Alexis Sanchez flew from Chile to Barcelona last Friday, and in the next few days details about his future are expected to be ironed out. The news stories keep coming regarding a move to Arsenal, so with that in mind, talkSPORT looks at what the Spanish press has to say.
Alexis has decided to go to Arsenal
Catalan broadsheet La Vanguardia – a paper with close ties to the current FC Barcelona board – claim Alexis has decided upon the Emirates as his destination for next season. They explain that the Chilean arrived in Barcelona last Friday for talks over his future, and with ‘several clubs’ making offers to him, the player has decided on Arsenal, who would pay the best salary. ‘Now it’s just a question of Arsenal’s offer also satisfying Barcelona’, La Vanguardia add.
Alexis is considering his options
Over in Madrid, AS say that despite Alexis’ desire to succeed at Barcelona, his future ‘looks far away from the Camp Nou’. They add that the ‘possible arrival of Luis Suarez along with the need to finance reinforcements in the defence has distanced the Chilean from the Blaugrana’.
The Madrid daily further elaborate that Alexis has a huge number of offers but the most likely scenario is that he ends up in England or Italy, with the best deals coming from those leagues. Though Alexis would prefer to go to Italy as he already speaks the language, Juventus have offered the least in terms of a transfer fee, and Barcelona won’t lower their asking price, according to AS.
The player's agent provides clues that he’s going to Arsenal
The ‘and finally’ piece of news comes from Mundo Deportivo, who have written an entire article on the (supposed) fact that Fernando Felicevich – Alexis’ agent – recently followed Olivier Giroud, Santi Cazorla, Mesut Ozil and Mikel Arteta on Twitter. ‘The agent could have sent a message to supporters about the forward’s future without meaning to’ Mundo Deportivo claim.
