Alexis Sanchez

Let's be honest, the fact that Suarez is leaving is going to make it a lot harder to attract top players. Would be a lot easier of a decision for Sanchez if he was staying. Disappointing all round

Suarez' departure is disappointing all right, but not IMHO for those reasons. I'm hopeful that CL football, our attacking style and the all-round progress we're making will still attract players. As for Sanchez, I doubt he'd even have been in the frame if we weren't getting the Suarez money, besides which it looks quite likely that he doesn't want to come anyway because he wants the bright lights of Lahndan.

Not feeling confident about Sanchez. I Wonder who our other targets are. Rodgers wants the best.

Marco Rues, please. We know we'll just end up with Shaqiri though, he's a great player, but he cant replace Suarez.

If we are to go by our history of strikers coming into our club - then I don't think we should worry too much - because if there is one truth about our club then it is definitely that one class striker leaves and another comes in to take his place. Maybe that new guy will not show it next season but perhaps the season after. I am not going to lose sleep over Sanchez not wanting to come to us. We will find someone who will fill Suarez's boots.

Not really Moron. When Owen left in 2004 we had massive issues there till 2007 if yOu remember, - baros, crouch, morientes, all failed to fill his goal tally

Would love to be proven wrong but Reus is wishful thinking, and be honest does anyone really think the club is capable of pulling that one off? i haven't much confidence in the club being able to do what it takes to lure a big name like that to Anfield.

Its also wishful thinking that another top class striker is going to turn up at our door just because we have had good ones in the past, we do have some comfort there with Sturridge though, if he can carry on the fine job he has been doing then that'll be all good.

He'll get injured though, unfortunately. I really really want Lambert to be the one that can fill in for him while he's inevitably out, but it's not going to happen. Unless the attackers around him are simply that good (Sanchez included) that all the striker needs to think about is positioning and finishing.

Which makes me wonder.. We all know we can't replace Suarez. A forward that does everything. Create, score, dribble, defend, short one touch footy, humiliate defenders.
If the emphasis on someone like Lambert were to be simply score goals and hold the ball up, plus be the player to lay off the 'two' in the 'one-two's', maybe having Sturridge, Lambert and Borini is enough while we strengthen other areas?

Haven't really thought out what I've written here, so a bit of a mess.

@keniget - how good is Alexis Sanchez?

He's very good. I think Barca may have won the title if they'd have dropped Neymar and played him a few more times last season.

He had a slow first season at Barca and I'm not sure if there was some thinking that he was struggling to adapt to the way Barcelona played but last season he looked excellent (perhaps aided by the fact that their game opened up a lot more and they weren't quite playing Guardiola's tiki taka any more).

He's very fast, strong, determined and works really hard. Like most players of his ilk he's better with space to run into but he can still play the 1-2's and all that shit.

He's not going to be a tier 1 player in my opinion (i.e. your superstars like Gerrard in his pomp, Suarez, Robben et al) but he seems to sit pretty comfortably in the tier below it.

I'd be beyond gutted if Arsenal get him. I suppose we won't find out until after the champions league qualifier anyway.

Selling either of them doesnt make sense though if they want to progress in Europe.

If we dont get him I hope he goes to Juve 🙂

All this shit? As in the 1 week he's probably been on holiday post WC and his agent may have had a couple of calls with him? Maybe calm yo tits a bit?

I hope you realise that we have nearly another two months of this bollocks to put up with.

I do, and I suspect the hysteria will continue till at least the pre-season tour, but I wish some people could not get so swept up in guesses and outright lies. It's been bad for a while with the increase in social media and 'real time' news, but this year has been crazy already and the bloody world cup hasn't even ended yet.

Ballbag saying he'll talk to Juve tomorrow

Some others are saying he'll talk to Rodgers in 48 hours..

Raphael Honigstein claimed last night that Sanchez is resisting being shoved out of the door to a specific team. And, also, probably holding out for a pay-off.

To be fair to Sanchez, why should he go along with what suits Barca when they are trying to get rid of him.

Even if he does want to come to us, he's best saying he doesn't to protect his bargaining position.

That said, I can't see him wanting to come to us unless Rodgers works his magic.

This is the concerning thing with us even with CL, who is there to really sell the club to a top player like Sanchez if he is in 2 minds?
