True but kinda bullshit as well since Matip started the season with Gomez on the bench. Back then, Matip was in our best XI and probably would have stayed there if he didn't get injured.

I'm not sure.. I think Gomez would have been used against pace, and matip against height and then one would probably have cemented a place irrespective of injury.

Was absolutely no sign of that until November when Matip got injured. Yes he did replace TAA for one or two games.
