Small lay of Gillingham beating Bristol Rovers @ 2.04
I've got a big lay of Crawley winning at Crewe @ 1.76 BUT I only recommend a medium lay (I'll explain why when I have more time)
Small lay of Leicester winning at Doncaster @ 2.12
Very small lay of plymouth beating Hereford @ 2.12
 
I'm heading out soon but if Mellor, Hume and Coutts all start for Preston in the late kick off at MK dons I'll put about £25 on them to win.

Hi SummerOnions, unlucky with the Liverpool bet, I intended betting on over 2.5 goals but FORGOT to put the bet on because of my drunken state! Alcohol cost me many lost opportunities over Xmas.

Sorry about my lack of posts over the Xmas/New year but traditionally my festive period is a series of piss-ups & hangovers and as such my reliability is compromised. I find it difficult to focus on my bets and my research goes "out the window" which usually means I rarely win/lose very much. I've posted all my bets over this period but can't be bothered deciphering them and trying to figure out which challenge which bet was dedicated to. I think overall I made a slight profit but can't be arsed totally it up (although my account looks marginally higher than it was on the 24/12).

I'm gonna "cheat" a bit and continue both challenges as if the Xmas period didn't happen.

For the record (if anyone is copying any of my bets) January is usually my worst month for bets during the season. I've no idea why this is. I have made a profit in January before but most seasons January ends in a loss, so I'll be betting a bit more cautiously. That said, from mid-Feb to the end of March is nearly always my most profitable period.

Haha, I feel comforted that I warned in advance that January is traditionally my worst month - my 3% challenge has take a big hit this week :-(

In 6 years of heavy betting I think I've only made a profit in January once! I think it's due to the fact that I don't seem to win on FA Cup matches and as there are usually 2 rounds of FA Cup games in January.......

I think I'll steer clear of the next round.

Qualifying my comment about mid-Feb - March being my best period, I have made big profits in this period in 6 consecutive seasons.

If my liability is going to be under £30 I usually just type the amount.
A small bet would have a liability of anywhere between £30 - £80
A Medium bet £90-£250
Large bet £250-£500
Anything over that I'd type the amount.

In future I'll just type the amounts for all bets, keep it simple.

I layed Cardiff beating Palace earlier, £142 to win £100.The price has changed from 2.42 to 2.54 which is still layable but not great value. I'd have priced Cardiff about 2.66

Edit; Cardiff started much too well for my liking so I've sold out of the main bet. I have no liability on the draw or Palace and £6 profit if Cardiff win.

Good work SO. Hereford lost, does that mean you did over 2.5 goals or do you mean you won by laying them?

I would have won the palace bet if i hadn't sold out but it was still the right thing to do. Cardiff are a very dangerous team and for the first 15 minutes Palace couldn't get out of their own half. Because I had the opportunity to trade out with no loss it was prudent to do so.

The over 2.5 goals on the hereford game meant about a £32 profit for the night.

I'll up date my bank balances on both threads later.
 
Yeah i went with over 2.5 goals.

Will wait til i see the team sheet, but i'm gonna bet on a city CB to score first, they always do well against us on corners.

It all depends on the team selection. IMO there is no point Arsenal trying to play it tight. Their defence is a shambles and their only chance is to start on the front foot with Van Persie and Henry up front and maybe also Arshavin behind them with Ramsey and Song staying back. If Arsenal actually take the game to United they have a chance because United's defence is not looking great either.

I'd actually price United about the 2.6 mark tbh.
 
True. Gonna see what Bolton's team is but if they rest a lot of players i could see Macclesfield grinding out a 0-0

QPR are playing with only one DM tonight instead of the usual 2. Also MK Dons have Charlie MacDonald up front who I fancy could get a goal against the awful Gabbidon/Ferdinand partnership.

I decided to cash out whilst the going was good, gave me a nice £8 profit whatever happens. I put £4 of that on Tranmere to win.
