Zlatan: Guardiola Spineless Coward

Great footballer but much like Mourinho in a way, think he's benefited quite a bit from getting the right moves at the right times.

I'm not sure there's any point in continuing discussion. Why? How about what I said earlier:

[article] don't really look at int'l footy stats as the be all and end all of a player, unless it's someone who should be doing more for a good team, which Sweden isn't[/article]

.

I saw what you wrote about International games but what you quoted is so contradictory I'm having a hard time making sense of it.

First you say he doesn't cut it in big games

Then you dismiss International football (despite the World Cup being the biggest platform)

Then you say Intl football does matter when top players perform for top teams

Then you dismiss Sweden as not being a top team.

Surely an example of someone winning the game for a non top team (Sweden) vs a top team (Italy) at an International tournament is a PERFECT example of someone performing on the big stage/when it matters etc

Anyway, pointless continuing this discussion. You've already reversed your stance and agreed he is a top player and Binny destroyed your argument even further

I've not really contradicted myself. It's rather simple if you don't have an agenda, so I'll make it as straight forward as possible:

1) "you say he doesn't cut it in big games" - Correction: I said he didn't cut it in big games. I said it was my major gripe with him. In other words, after his performances with Barca and Milan in big games, I no longer complained about it because he did cut it. Wow - simple eh?

2) "Then you dismiss International football (despite the World Cup being the biggest platform)" - I didn't 'dismiss' international football, I just said it's not a fair barometer. It's like saying Milan Baros was 'class' b/c of his performance in the Euros (5 goals). It would also mean players like Messi are shit because well ... they never perform up to their level in the world cup. It's not something I took against Zlatan - so again, you're looking for attacks on him that don't exist.

3) "Then you say Intl football does matter when top players perform for top teams" - This was more of something aimed at Messi, whom plays for a fantastic Argie squad but can't drag them on like say Maradona '86. This will be a mark on his career, rightly or wrongly, and hence that point was made.

4) "Then you dismiss Sweden as not being a top team." - It's odd. I'd think you're Swedish, but you're not - you're an English lad and you want to tell me that Sweden is a 'big team'? I mean, with all due respect, Sweden isn't a 'top team' ... They're a mid-tier European team that's nowhere near Germany, Belgium, Holland or Spain ... Heck, I'm not sure they're even at the level of France or England..

Binny didn't destroy anything ... If anything, he just confirmed I was off by ONE GAME (the Parma one) - which is why no one mentions his performances for Juve against the big teams or Inter (until his last game). And just to repeat as you have a Zlatan sized chip on your shoulder, I rate him as one of the best players in the world (just below Messi & Ronaldo).

About Zlatan and Sweden. The fucker is carrying the whole team game after game!

According to Gazetta dello sport he's the highest earner in Europe at the moment. He has to have fooled someone I guess.

It's threads like this that makes me miss the old "Is Rafa great/a cunt" ones

It's not surprising Ossi - they're an average team (though they've had some good defensive teams) and if they're going to go anywhere, they need him to be at his best. That's why I don't really hold his bad performances for Sweden against him - it's not a fair barometer imo.

As for money - I don't think I'm one who should address the point as I think he's one of the best players in the world, so he's earned his $$$.

LeTallecWiz is spot on in this thread.

FMDSFIHRFIR is, I'm sure, smearing walls with his own shit in between posts.

His goal against England is one of my favourites of all time.

It's outrageous, and he's that good that there has never been a mention of luck about it, even from his critics.

[article=http://as.com/diarioas/2013/09/30/english/1380492281_877679.html]Zlatan Ibrahimovic has launched another attack on Pep Guardiola for the treatment he received from the coach while the two were at Barcelona. “He’s a great coach but as a person? He’s a coward, he’s not a man,” Ibra told German weekly ‘Der Spiegel’.

The Paris Saint-Germain striker revealed the motives behind his decision to quit Camp Nou and his strained relationship with Guardiola who, he claims, “has got no balls”.

“I was sacrificed for [Leo] Messi but he didn’t have the decency to tell me to my face,” Ibrahimovic explained. The Swede says that there is doubt that Messi is “a brilliant player” but at that point, he had scored more goals than the Argentinean. “That was a problem, because Messi is Guardiola’s star player”.

Ibra says that despite having never received an explanation from the coach when he was demoted to the bench, his relationship with his team mates was good. “The only thing I couldn’t understand was whenever Guardiola spoke, they all sat down attentively like school kids in front of the teacher”.

Ibrahimovic, who also worked under José Mourinho at Inter Milan, compared both managers: “Mourinho doesn’t need to take on a role. But the other one wants to be perfect – like Tiger Woods and look what happened to him. Everyone has a dark side.

“I would have given my life for Mourinho; he is capable of handling all of the different personalities within a squad and he has always taken on difficult challenges, like he is now with Chelsea. But Guardiola avoids them. Why has he chosen Bayern Munich? Because it’s a team which functions well even if he’s not there. He’s a joined a team which is already complete and although he’s signed new players, they don’t need them,” he argued.

And as for the big money transfers which hit the headlines over the summer, Ibra was equally full of scorn. Regarding Real Madrid’s capture of Gareth Bale, he said: “100 million for Bale? He’s not worth that amount. The whole system is sick. The contracts we sign are madness. No player is worth that amount of money”.[/article]

Paris restaurant offers ‘Le Zlatan,’ a huge and expensive burger dedicated to Ibrahimovic

Le Zlatan: Available with fries, salad or a punch in the face (@ProZlatan)

Most tourists visiting Paris don't come for the burgers, but an exception might now be made for "Le Zlatan," an obnoxiously oversized meaty treat created in honor of Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Ibra is big, tough to handle and very expensive — much like this new burger. He's also thought by some to be overrated and can fill you with regret if you get too close to him — much like this new burger.

The Guardian has the mouth-watering details of the dish being offered by Doddy's Cafe in the Parisian suburb of Boulogne-Billancourt:
The burger, just like the PSG forward, is a commanding presence, combining 600 grams [over 1.3lbs] of mince beef with onions, bacon and three types of cheese including cheddar, Emmental and Auvergne blue, all contained in a giant bun that has been specially made for the restaurant.
The gigantic burger costs a princely €29.90 ($40.50), which is double the price most other burgers they offer. Presumably, if you dare to order it you must refer to yourself only in the third person.

The menu description — which is accompanied by a silhouette of a man performing a high kick — boasts that "even Chuck Norris couldn't fit it in his mouth."

Restaurant manager Jean-Philippe Grandin has challenged the mighty Zlatan to come and taste his eponymous meal, which only seven customers have managed to finish so far.

If Grandin really wants the Swede to come to his restaurant, he should casually mention that Pep Guardiola was one of the folks who couldn't finish the burger. Zlatan would come down, inhale three of them and flying kick the waiter in the throat quicker than you can say "Catalan coward."

Ibrahimovic is painfully underrated on this forum. World class and one of the best strikers in the world.
End off.

The commentary on the video for his wonder goal was well fucking annoying.

"Oh Zlatan, I want to give you a man hug."

Fuck off. Prick.

It's too bad that ZI is such a massive ball bag.
I want to like him because he is a talented guy - but he walks around like his shit doesn't stink.
At the same time he is one of footballs sublime talents and one of its most punchable faces. It's truly remarkable.

"End of" my @rse. There's far more to it than that. He's a world class talent but until recently he's also been a flat track bully.
