with the new signings and not much leaving whose in your starting 11? who's on the bench and who should never get a game again?

Thank you, was about to post a similar thread.

Anyway, with everyone fit this should be our lineup:

Reina

Johnson Carragher Agger Aurelio

Lucas Gerrard

Aquilani
Kuyt Downing
Suarez

Subs: Doni, Skrtel, Kelly, Adam, Hendo, Meireles, Carroll
-------------------------------------

However, in our upcoming game against Sunderland I'm expecting the following:

Reina

Kelly Carra Skrtel Johnson

Spearing Adam

Henderson
Kuyt Downing
Carroll

Subs: Doni, Agger, Robinson, Poulsen, Maxi, Cole, Ngog
Makes me wanna cry.

We're still short one central defender and one left back. Considering the rumours that both Aquilani and Meireles are leaving, we need a Juan Mata type player as well.
Suarez and Lucas will probably miss the first game because it's too soon after Copa America.

Impossible question to answer. The more options we fetch into the squad, the less likely it becomes that we'll have just the one starting XI. It's bound to change, probably quite frequently, over the course of the season.

Who is our match winner in a Gerrard & Suarezless side?

Carroll? Downing? Kuyt?

It's a bit of a worry for me.

Kuyt most def.

-----------------Reina

--Kelly-----Carra----Agger---Insua

--Kuyt----Gerrard---Meireles---Downing

-------------Carroll---N'Gog

So many flaws in that line up, I don't know where to begin.
But I'm guessing it's against Sunderland with Suarez and Lucas unavailable.
Wonder how Gerrard manages to make a miraculous comeback.

I can't disagree neil. Good selections

Kuyt maybe to start some away games on the right though, moving gerrard more central next to Lucas

kuyt is the obvious ommision but I went with henderson at home because he will give better service to the strikers (imho) and went with gerrard away, again, because he will give better service to the strikers.

Call me old fashioned but I don't buy this home and away team lark. We're Liverpool FC. We put out our 11 and fuck the other fuckers. So, all thngs considered with everyone fit anjd available and no further ins or outs, I'd start with:

Pepe
Kelly Carra Agger Johnson
Henderson Gerrard Adam Downing
Suarez
Carroll

Subs: Doni, Aurelio, Skrtel, Lucas, Meireles, Kuyt, Aquilani

However, against Sunderland, I expect:

Pepe
Kelly Carra Agger Johnson
Henderson Lucas Adam Downing
Kuyt
Carroll

------Downing Carroll Suarez
-------Adam Gerrard Aquilani
Robinson Agger Carragher Johnson
-----------------Reina

Highly subject to change, but I'd like to see how this panned out.

I agree the back line shouldn't change too much but I think different types of players are suited to breaking down teams at home and surviving an away barrage to collect 3 points.

Spidey, next time i see you post starting line with no Kuyt in it you gonna get a fucking tight slap from me. Fucking hell.

Kuyts best position is as a striker, therefore he should be a backup striker.
Simple fucking as

Yup this is what i see every fucking year, Kuyt should not be a starter be it as a striker or a right midfielder and guess what kids?? ??? Kuyt start most of our games as a striker and right midfielder. Eat dirt you haters.

Yeah and one of the reasons why we are fighting for 4th,5th and 6th is because we have players like him starting most of our games. I understand If we havent had the finances or opportunity to replace him or we had to strengthen other areas first, but no way is he good enough to be a starting right mid for a team looking to win the title.

Yup he is to be blamed because we finish 7th place. Suggest to me who should we get to replace Kuyt as a first team right midfield. I might be able to tell Kenny to sign him.

just tell Kenny to look for someone he cant beat in a 35m sprint, and depending on our budget maybe he'll also be able to control the ball and pass it to someone wearing the same colour shirt. At the moment we dont even have this so it will be a good start.

kuyt is striker and that is where he should play. let kuyt fight it out with carroll with regards to who partners suarez.

It's conventional wisdom at its worst.

Not all home teams do or will attack us.

no but most teams will sit back at home and most teams will attack us at away.
even if that weren't true you can't deny the dynamic of play totally changes when you play away from home as opposed to infront of your own fans.

Yes he is a striker, a versatile striker but who to play at right midfield?
henderson
Has he ever played at right midfield before? IF Gerrard is fit enough to play i would play Gerrard at right wing. Henderson and Adam in the centre.

Really I think we are still lacking quality options for the wings, I would give Henderson or even Johnson a go( if Kelly continues to progress). Ideally I would like us to sign another real winger that can offer us some pace and width which I don't believe kuyt at the moment provides. Downing I believe will do a good job for us and even someone like nzogbia would be a decent option,he would provide good competition for the wingers already here and we could then also have downing on the right with them interchanging during the match. We don't need to have our slow striker playing 50 games a season on the wings, up front his weakness are less obvious but on the wings he is our oppositions left back dream come true.
