Macca and Modo and co would probably be better at this, I don't watch the ressies much these days, but as an U21 side, what do we have as a 'best XI' and how much of it do you think Rodgers is likely to use?

Good question, Macca and I disagree about a lot of things but I think we're on par when it comes to the youth and reserve team players.
It's difficult considering that we don't have any top rated strikers in the club. Morgan is good but he's way behind some of his peers. Our keepers aren't really that god either. (Mind you Gulacsi is 22).

My team would be:

Keeper: Either Ward on Belford, none of them stands out IMO.

Right back: McLaughlin, no real competition here. Very excited about him.

Left back: It's between Smith and Robinson. But Robinson is just on a different level.

Centre- back: Since we're talking U21's it's gotta Wilson and Wisdom. I've stated before that I'm a bit unimpressed by Coady, but he's been playing in midfield lately. I think his natural position is CB. I don't rate Sama at all.

Defensive midfield: We're a bit short on options here. Gotta be Coady.

Centre/Attacking midfield: Shelvey, Texeira, Adorjan and Pacheco (his natural role is as behind the main striker or to the left). I haven't' seen much of the new Portuguese lad but what I saw when Sporting battered us, is enough to think that he's a good player. Adorjan was arguably one of the best player in the reserves during last season. He seemed to thrive in the supporting role. Shelvey and Adorjan for me.

Left midfield: Sterling, no doubt.

Right midfield: Suso. I'd rather have him in the centre midfield position, but since we don't have any other real options on the left, except Toni Silva, I guess he has to play there.

Strikers: This is a tough one. It's imo between, Ngoo and Morgan. But considering that Pacheco also can play there I think I'm gonna go with Patches.

Cheers Modo. What's the verdict on Texeira? Is McLaughlin good enough? I don't rate Darby (is he even still here?) and Flanno has had his ups and downs.

As for the CB's, Wisdom has looked decent, Wilson I just don't like the look of at all, maybe I'm judging him harshly, but he looks poor in possession of the ball.

As for Suso, because of his slight build I always had him as playing ahead of a midfield, although I can see he likes to drop to pick up the ball, and then utilises his passing range better (ala Xabi), which may be something he'd struggle to do when playing further up the pitch. His build has to be (unfortunately) a bit of a worry in this respect when it comes to him playing in a central position. Sterling I also have high hopes for and I'm still not given up on Patches, the rest I don't really know enough of or what I have seen, they haven't particularly stood out much.

Here's a taste of what McLaughlin offers on the right.
I rate him very highly. This kid is good. I remember seeing him play for his school team and he dominated the game.
Reminds me of Vegard Heggem. Looks a bit like him too.

You missed Bijev. Coming from the God blessed States, this fuck might as well get a long term contract now and take Cole's old number 10 shirt off him.

He hasnt really played for us has he?

He played against us or maybe for us during a trial I can't remember. A bit like the mysterious Teixeira then. In our stupidity we concluded from their respective performances that they were exceptional players. It's actually more a case that our teams on those days were exceptionally shit.
