He's a squaddie at best, he's hardly undroppable.

We've got Dirk & Maxi for the right plus countless yougsters. We don't need Benayoun for the right.

Anything over 7m and we should sell.

We need someone for the left...

My point is I'd rather have Yossi for the right than Dirk, who should be shunted to a back up striker.

The last point is true enough, but we should be selling both Riera and Babel in order to fund left-sided players, IMO, because both contribute significantly less than Yossi and will attract the same sort of price.

Trouble is, Kuyt's not ideal as back up to Torres if we play the system we currently do. Kuyt can't lead a line.

Jovanovic could be back up for Torres and might be able to fill in on the left, so while Riera & Babel can be sold for a left-sided attacker, we shuld probably still be looking at another striker, not forgetting we need to bring in a left back as well.

I agree, Squiggs, but I think the point is that Yossi's sick to death of Benitez and wants to leave.
He was also given a rather large clue last season that he had no long-term future at Liverpool.
The clue being that Benitez told him that he had no long-term future at Liverpool.

Now we've all become rather inured to the incessant reports (usually emanating from Israel) about Benayoun going here or there, or wanting more games, or whatever. And most of us have been rather less than arsed, because he isn't all that.

But if he HAD been told that he had no future at the club, then fair enough, he should go to the best club available.
And if that club happens to be a better one than Liverpool, even more fair play to him.

I must have missed that. When did Benitez tell him he had no long-term future at Liverpool? I thought he just signed an extended contract?

Apparently before the Hull game.

Dunno how true it is, but nothing would surprise me.

Anyway. I'm still not arsed if he goes or stays.

If we get anything in the region of £7/8M for him, we should do the deal before they change their minds

Hasn't some bollocks been rumoured too about his religion clashing with potential buyers?
Ridiculous if true. Unless Yossi is a part-time Gaza commando that is.

Potential here to sign a very talented kid from the Chavs in part exchange for Yossi. I've seen this kid Stoch a few times and he's hugely talented, predominantly plays on the left midfield for Slovakia/FC Twente (he was on loan there last season) but he's right footed.

Apparently his contract is up soon and he wants a guarantee of football so he has been linked with a £2.5m move to Galatasaray! If his contract wasn't up soon he's be worth wayyyy more. Apparently from what I've read he was brilliant for FC Twente as they won the Dutch league.

If we sold Yossi for £5m & Stoch it could end up being one hell of a deal.

Below is a link to a Chav forum and it is evident they are not happy about him leaving, especially so cheaply.

I see today that Harry Redknapp reckons Joe Cole has already signed a deal with another club and its nor Spurs

Oh dear. There were rumours in my Sunday paper about the Mancs. If it's not us, I hope at least it's not them.

Good spot by Pesam there. I rate Yossi and would rather keep him but, if he goes and we COULD get a good player in as part of the deal to keep squad numbers (and quality) up, that would be ideal.

On the ball there Pesam, that'd be a terrific deal.

I know absolutely nothing about this kid, but right footed left wingers do not inspire confidence in me
With regards to Slovakia, he has been played on the right because two of their best player, himself and Weiss, are both right footed midfielders so Stoch shifts to the left because he is adept at cutting in and scoring quite a few goals. I'm not totally sure whether or not it's his preferred side and why he plays there for FC Twente too (maybe they also have a good wide-right player already).

I was going to (and probably still will when I have more time) highlight the crazy price Slovakia are to win the world cup 550/1. They have Weiss (man city) and Stoch (chelsea) on either side of midfield (both hugely talented youngsters), Hamsik of Napoli in central midfield who is/has being courted by many of the top teams in Europe (including us apparently), a couple of very useful forwards in Sestak and Vittel and a decent defence which includes Skrtel.

They finished ahead of the Czechs and Poland in their group and if either of those teams had qualified they would be about 80/1 instead of 550/1. Just because Slovakia do not (supposedly) have a decent pedigree in world football they have been dismissed. I say supposedly because they actually provided 10 of the Czechoslovakian team that won the 1976 European Championship and the majority of the Czechoslovakian players in the 1930's and 1960's who reached 2 world cup finals!

Obviously they're a long shot but 550/1 has to be worth a couple of quid.

Stoch is a decent player. 5mil and him would be a steal.
Anyway, now with benitez getting the sack.. would benayoun still want to leave?
