Crush it , fry it a little.
yup, a lot of the chinese cooking use crushed garlic to be fried lightly to aromatise the oil before cooking vegetable or meat.

In Ipoh, the tin mining capital of the world in its hey days is this famous hor fun (literraly river noodle). Its soft, smooth fine texture apparently comes from the water that flows out of its lime hills. There is no where else in Malaysia that such texture can be found for its hor fun.

this noodle is usually eaten with a prawn based soup with shredded chicken

the bean sprout in this city is short and stockily crunchy

usally eaten with steamed chicken that is done just right. smooth and tender with soya sauce, sesame oil and ginger/garlic dip. tabasco will do nicely too.

Is there sugar in fruit ?
Here they often sell pickled fruits, and also fruits with other preservatives (I cant remember the English word for asam). But if your thinking of fruits, have you ever tried papaya, mangosteen, rambutans or durians? Those are the famous fruits here. ;D

Far from it my friend..

Its skin is purple in colour, but the flesh is white and sweet. The skins a bit hard so you have to take it a way first. a bit like Dragon Fruit if I'm not mistaken.

*Where are Y1 and avvy when you need them*

It does still bug me sometimes, but it's the taste that makes most people here love it. There are loads of other 'horrible-smelling' things here malays eat such as petai, tangkai jering and others. I can tell you durians don't smell half as bad as these do. 🙂
