My Mrs just made Chicken and sweetcorn soup, ala chinese. Very nice it was too. And not from a tin. Home made and all that.
[/quote]

It's dead easy.

2 x tins of Creamed Style sweetcorn (most important that it is cream style)
X amount of chicken, very thinly sliced
1 x beaten egg.

Heat the sweetcorn with some extra water until it reaches boiling point, chuck in the chicken, allow to boil for a bit until it turns white.

Turn the temp down and SLOWLY stir in the beaten egg (too fast and it scrambles)

Ah. My Mrs used a chicken carcass that we had consumed the day before. Boiled it for several hours to get a stock and get the last bits of meat off the bone, ala Spanish style. They boil everything for hours. Then added the sweetcorn, standard stuff not creamed, then the eggs. Very good it was too.

Voila!

That's an even better way to do it V, using the leftovers.

The most important ingredient in most soups is time, gives it that rich deep flavour.

Try the creamed style sweetcorn next time, it's loads better

I do a nice Minestrone soup. I do enough for several days, and it always tastes better on day two than day one!

It's weird - they are certain things that taste better reheated the next day.

Lasagne DEFINITELY isn't one of them, but sheppard's/cottage pie is.

Trying to think of others now . . .

I know someone who came in pissed one night, put the oven on economy, threw a steak and kidney pie in. Forgot about it. Fell asleep. Woke up 6 hours later and said pie was done to a turn. He swears it was the best pie he'd ever eaten. Ever.

The Chinese has a fantastic leftover soup. All the leftover meat, any shape, size, cuts, types which you will get after some heavy festival feasting such as the Chinese New year... just dump it into a pot. Throw in bit of tamarind paste if you cannot get fresh tamarind (add as much as you would like your soup to be sour, your preference) and boil with mustard green (vegetable). Viola, a soup fit for the emperor. I was told it was the favourite of some ancient emperor.

I like lasagna the next day. Even cold the next day. Cold pizza the next day is great.

I'm sorry but that looks fucking gross.

Burritos are the best.
From Chipotle.
Double steak, heavy salsa, sour cream, guacamole, lettus, rice, black beans, three kinds of cheeses, and spicy corn. It needs two tortillas to stay together 😱
