Whats everyones favourite meal

This is the weekend (apart from footbal) we look forward to eat out

Avvy had mentioned dimsum. It is a southern china snack usually eaten at breakfast. Hong Kong is famous for it but it is available where chinese and lovers of chinese food gathers.

This is the siew mai, ground pork wrapped in wantan skin with egg roe steamed.

Char siew pau, bbq pork in sweet dough, steamed. Notice dimsum is usually consumed with chinese tea which is thought to reduce fat! (hah) after stuffing one selve silly during breakfast.

I should avoid this thread. I've gained two kilos over the past few weeks, no doubt from just looking at the pictures.

Probably does if it's anything like the roast guinea pig (cuy) I ate in the Andes. It was tasty.

They eat those in Spain. My wife hails from Northern Spain and there is nothing worse than sitting down with the family and watching them chew on boiled rubbish.

Chickens feet, pigs ears, pigs snout, pigs trotters and pigs jaws are all held in high esteem. I can barely watch.

(pre-empts any shark fin jibes by saying I'm not massively into shark fin soup anyway)

Yep, me, me, me!!

Actually, I've started eating fish again, but haven't eaten meat for over 12 years!

Can, we let this thread die it's natural death now, it's doing my tits in. That's an expression I haven't used for a while.

Krissr, you'd make a good councilor, lots of questions, but no substance.

Just let it go mate, I'm sure you've set the world record for the longest thread! 😉

I know, and I knew that response was coming.
But, just seeing the title of the thread in the chat room is starting to infuriate me.
It gets to the bottom and then "Kriss Questions" pops up with a gem like, does anyone not like food?
And, the whole pain-staking process starts all over again.
It's like a fruit machine, only the jack pot starts at the top and disappears into oblivion.
When that happens, I'll be a happy man.

And, I'm also one of you, well an adopted Asian, anyway. Been living in Japan for quite some time now. And, no I don't like sushi!

And, the worst thing is, I've just contributed towards my own suffering, by dragging this thread out even further.

Not to worry, I'm off to watch the cricket. (Yes, I get the irony.)

No, not just in water, but that's hardly the point. A bit of flavouring and some veg doesn't turn something fundamentally gross into a culinary delight!

Barbecue sauce is made out of caramel and colouring aswell isnt it ?

I would be interested to know how much salt is contained in 100g of soya sauce. although i think good chinese food rarely needs it. soya sauce is often on the table in chinese restaurants and i ask the more knowledgable of you what dishes do you use it for if any?

soya sauce on the table are for dips or to enhance the flavour to the dishes/meat. salt content in soya sauce varies from brand to brand. some has little or even none. read the label. however, it will not be possible to do so if the sauce jar on the table do not provide the label as it could be filled up from bigger containers. taste it and see whether it is too salty or not. if too salty, dip less. if you think te flavour os good enough, do not dip.

chicken heart plus liver can eaten braised in soya sauce or made into a pate
