He scored a cracker tonight in the league cup game against the Gooners.
Mourinho doesn't really seem to fancy him though despite him being Chelsea's best player last season,
Will he be on the move in January

Brilliant player who would be a dream signing.
On a side note Bendtner is fucking totally useless,

I read a report somewhere that suggested Mourinho favoured Oscar over him because Oscar is quicker on the break in the counter-attack system that Mourinho's looking to set up.

Strange decision from Jose but what a player he would be for anyone else.

IMagine if we were still in the top 3 in Janurary with 50m to spend and he was for sale?

Seriously, this has the divisive one's ego written all over it. One of the best players in the country, and he's on the bench

As much as it's fashionable to assume mourinho is washed up & making stupid decisions to bolster his ego, I'd be very surprised if he didn't have a damn good footballing reason behind it.

Perhaps mata doesn't suit his preferred formation & he feels he'd lose the benefits of other players by accommodating him?

Agree.

I think Ryan's comment was pretty much spot on.

Watching Oscar on the break; quick feet with amazing close control you can see how dangerous he is in a counter attack style. That's Jose's main focus - remember them beating Barca in the CL at Stamford Bridge in '05? They got the ball three times in the first 20 minutes, breaking from their own area on each occasion, scored 3 goals.

I thought he'd change that this time given the players he had. He didn't really play that way with Inter and was still successful. It must just be his preferred approach.

Apparently he's not great at tracking back either, which is one of Mourinho's main worries, too.

I'm sorry lads, but you find a way to accommodate a player like Mata. If you can't accommodate that talent, then your managerial abilities aren't as amazing as your rep suggests. They don't play solely on the counter - and they don't play teams like Barca week in week out.

People can dress it up whatever way they want - Mata doesn't suit Mourinho's style of play, he's not quick enough, he doesn't do enough of the dirty work etc etc. Load of bollocks!! Mata's a quality, quality footballer and one you have to be getting into your starting 11...he's that good.

Come January and he's still not playing regularly, he'll be looking out...no doubts about it. Can't blame him either.

A move back to Spain i reckon. Btw, he seems like a really nice bloke as well.

Hhmmm, I personally don't go along with these last two posts.

The focus is to win trophies - not make sure your most skillful players are in the team. If Jose wins trophies then he's done his job - regardless of who he played. If he doesn't win them and he left out great players then he's got some explaining in front of him.

Veron was a world class player who didn't suit the mancs playing style. I'm sure many people wanted him on the pitch but Ferguson won without him and that was what counted.

Comparing Veron's time at United to Mata's at Chelsea is laughable. Aside from a few games/goals he flopped, Mata's been one of Chelsea's most consistent and productive players since he joined!

Absolutely Mata has done the goods whereas Veron didn't. He's had a season of success under Di Matteo/Rafa. To many, he's undroppable. And as the pressure builds, Jose will dig his heels in

Well, Mata is the best player at Chelsea. He's one of the best players in the league. I'd absolutely love him at Anfield.

In less than 7 months time Chelsea will have won the title and whether Mata is on the pitch or on the bench won't even rate a mention.

Sad but true.

Obv.they'll be thereabouts but if I were a betting man my money would still be on City.

I too would sign Mata in a heartbeat though.

Personally speaking, my money is on Red. Come on lads, of all years, it's too wide open to be giving the title to Chelsea. Cheers

Oh, I'm not writing us off, don't worry about that. I do think though that Citeh and the Chavs would have to be higher in the betting - for now anyway.

Maureen dropping Mata is the equivalent of some cunt getting sent to prison and punching the biggest hardest cunt in the room.
