So anyone make a case for their first team place today? Ojo?
Nope.
The only players who seemed somewhat ready for first team football was Lucas, Skrtel and Allen.
Yes, I know that Henderson played. That's how unimpressed I was.
Ings hasn't played for over 6 months and was understandably anonymous, what's our captains excuse?

Lucas was the best of the rest today, sadly.

Stewart was ok.
Flanno was ok.
Ibe had a magical goal - overall, ok.
Skittles, Lucas and Allen - ok.

As for our captain ... You mean the one who's tried to play the whole year despite not being close to 100%? Yah, he as anonymous but that was expected as it was from Ings.

Henderson shouldnt be anywhere near the starting line up based on that performance. I highly doubt that he'll suddenly be in form on Wednesday

I'm just joking mate - it's Arn's opinion, which unfortunately - based on how the players played the last few games - you'd be hard pressed not to believe.

Correct and that a few players have said that Brendan had his favourites and didn't treat all the players in the same way. He didn't talk to a few of our players for months. If they asked him something he didn't answer.

Our manager can lose the dressing room. Big egos is a big problem in todays football. In our case Rodgers had the biggest ego and never admitted that he made mistakes until the results got so bad that he feared that he would be sacked. He even blamed our young players in the media a few times when the older players made mistakes.

He totally lost it.

I don't think anyone thinks he should be ... the starting 11 pretty much writes it self now ...

If we play with the usual suspects I expect to see the following 7 on the bench.

Bogdan, Skrtel, Smith, Lucas, Allen, Ibe, Benteke

Expect Ward and Origi to miss out through injury. But if they're both fit swap Ibe and Bogdan for them.

So Ings gets a bit of slack for being out injured for a long time. Yet Henderson who also has been out injured for a long time doesnt? Or is it expected that he's match fit after 6 weeks out?

He'll be on the bench on Wednesday regardless

It's that he comes on and looks just as much as a passenger as he did before his injury. Especially this season.
Being Captain, coming on and playing just as timidly as our inexperienced reserves are is freakin baffling.
Lucas played as a CB today and did better in midfield than Henderson.
He got 20 mins or something and did absolutely fucking nothing.

Lucas played as a CB but did better in midfield than Henderson. Not quite sure what you are on about in all honesty.
Henderson was decent. As expected after a long injury lay off.

Lucas, Skrtel and Brannagan were my MOTM

That Lucas as CB had a bigger impact in midfield than Henderson.
Yes, they were the obvious choices for MOM, especially the first two.

What was Rodgers thinking when he signed Bogdan? Fucking hell

Probably something along the same lines as Rafa when he signed all those keepers, or Klopp when he gave the unanimously derided Mignolet a 5yr deal

What's our captains excuse? He's been out injured for weeks, he's struggled with an injury for the entire season. You don't rate him as you've made known in the past, but you're going overboard with this criticism, and then tried to make it about whether he's going to be any use on Wednesday. Does anyone expect him to be? No one does, and back to the point, his excuse is obvious to everyone. I'm not sure why it's even relative how he faired next to Lucas, who's been fit all season and done his standard steady job.

Is it too much to expect our captain and the player who desperately wants to prove his fitness ahead of the EL final and the Euro's to do better on the pitch than a reserve?
0 shots
0 key passes
0 Aerial duels won
0 tackles
1 interception
1 clearance
2 crosses
91.3% passing accuracy.

The last one could be seen as positive, until you realise that he's playing in attacking midfield role and it was mainly safe short passes.

Yes, I've been critical of Henderson in the past when he didn't have any balls.
I called him a passenger, a chicken etc
2 years ago during the title run he suddenly transformed into this midfield machine and now he's back playing the same way he did when he joined.
The only reason I'm critical is because I demand more from him. If he delivers there's absolutely no problem from my side.

Where did you read this?

I know they did that nice gesture with the seats remembering the ninety six but can I just say that I think that West Brom are a hateful team filled with thugs the like of Olsson, Jacob etc who have become even worse under Pulis.
I can't wait for them to be relegated,

It was a drab affair to say the least, exactly what I expected.

Benteke did not have great service, however, he needs to make things happen for himself and yet again he just didnt turn up.
Ibe had one flash of brilliance that was the highlight of his season, other than this he was average should have looked to put himself in the mix but just didnt.
Need to mention Jon Flannagan - hes a local lad with a big heart, but he must be one of the least technically gifted players we have.....its hard to watch at times.

Flanno's technique isn't actually that bad. He's an awkward-looking lad but that tends to distract people from how proficient he actually is. Since he came back he's been effectively put on his own mini-pre-season, with lots of leg and knee strengthening work, so it's probably more down to that - feeling very heavy-legged - rather than any essential deficiencies that he's looked disappointing in recent appearances.

Danny Ings was full of praise for Liverpool supporters after they helped make his long-awaited comeback from injury "special". Ings was a second-half substitute for goalscorer Jordan Ibe as Liverpool played out a 1-1 draw with West Brom on the final day of the Premier League season on Sunday.

The 23-year-old had been out of action since October after rupturing his anterior crucial ligament in his first training session under Jurgen Klopp.

After playing just over 25 minutes at The Hawthorns, and hearing the Liverpool end vociferously chant his name, Ings was grateful to those who had helped him throughout his seven months of recovery.

"It's hard to put into words how much this afternoon meant to me, but it's important to say thank you to the people who made it so special and made it happen," Ings told Liverpool's official club website.

"The supporters were unreal, absolutely out of this world. I didn't expect them to sing my name after I've been out for that long, but it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and made me realise just why this place is what it is.

"Getting back on the pitch at West Brom was brilliant, but it's only the start. I know I'm going to have to keep working harder and harder each day to remain in contention at this great club. It's something I'm really looking forward to."

The England international also thanked Klopp and his Liverpool team-mates including Joe Gomez, who suffered the same type of injury as Ings early in the season.

"I also want to thank my team-mates for everything they've done for me while I've been battling to get back to full fitness,” he added.

"The atmosphere at Melwood is brilliant and we've got a dressing room of lads who get behind you and drive you on. Without them, the rehab would have been so much harder. Joe Gomez in particular has been with me throughout this and for a young lad, he's been immense.

"Of course, not just for putting me on today, but also for how he's been since he's come in, the gaffer has been different class. He's been supportive all the way through and I can't wait to repay the faith he's shown in me, even while I've not been available to help him on the pitch.

"Finally, I need to thank two hugely important groups of people: the Liverpool medical team and my family and friends."

What sort of person says he LOOKS FORWARD to work harder and harder to be in contention for a place at this club ?

You'll never go wrong when someone tells you they love hard work. Ings comes across as the sort of bloke who eats, breathes and lives on a no pain no gain mantra.

Something the likes of Balotelli will find strange and unfamiliar.
