Watford pre match talk

After dispatching WBA and Palace, 2 so called hoodoo sides, I expect we will bounce Watford. We owe them for last season.

Milner and Widjnaldum to return to starting XI. Not an easy game but we need the 3 points. These bloody international breaks are killing our momentum. Hopefully none of our players return with injuries.

Predicting the line up for this one is difficult, I personally think we need Wijnaldum rather than Can in midfield to help unlock their defence. Milner should be fit again after his illness.

I'd go with.

-------------------Karius

Clyne----Matip--------Lovren--------Milner

-----------------Henderson
------Lallana--------------Winaldum

Mané-----------Firmino------------Coutinho

Yeah, I also think Wijnaldum's calmness and guile will be more important for us in this game than Can's physicality. Hopefully Lallana will recover some match fitness compared to last week.

I haven't seen much of Watford this season, what kind of game do they favour? Are they Burnley-esque batten down the hatches and park the buses or do they attempt to play possession? Do they press, or do they retreat behind the halfway line, and compress the space?

Yup. Out for season. Have to feel for him but it's not like he will be missed. He will probably leave as soon as on a free.

OK, 5 minutes research, and they seem to have been very flexible tactically with everything from a 4-3-3 (home to Bournemouth) to a 5-3-2 (away to Swansea) with this becoming a 3-5-2 at home to Hull. They can play with the ball (60% against Hull) but are happy to concede possession agains better footballing sides (only 45% at home against Bournemouth). He does like systems where Deeney has company up front, so we need our defenders to defend, I'd say. They've been good at keeping it tight away from home in the past few fixtures with only 1 goal conceded in their last 2 away games. All-in-all, another test.

Christ, you have to feel for Ings, that is horrible. Really tough on him. Hope he manages to get back before the end of season and make the bench in our FAC final team.

Last season's game - around this time last year, actually - was an unmitigated disaster.

In fact, virtually everyone was shite, even the normally reliable Clyne, with Sakho (particularly), Can, Skrtel, Lucas and Firmino all having total nightmares.

The upside is that of that team, Lucas, Bogdan, Skrtel and Sakho have either left or are nowhere near the first team, and I don't think players like Lallana, Firmino, Can, Clyne et al could play so badly again.

So it can't be a repeat performance.

Fucking bastards.

I've backed 6 or more goals most games this season, when I've remembered... I think I got 14/1 against Arsenal, 12/1 against Hull. It was only 10/1 on Saturday... But I've just checked on Coral and it's now 13/2. They're onto us. Boooooo
6 goals would be fantastic but I'd take a 1-0 right now

Klopp's press conference - the main points

Here’s what Jurgen had to say in his press conference:

Edwards appointment is to secure future of the club - but Klopp has final say on transfers

No injury concerns ahead of Watford

Klopp says Ings will return for Liverpool 100percent - says operation was successful

Klopp not looking at the table after 10 games

Reds will have behind-closed-doors friendly during international break

And this pearl:

Reporter: "Is it useful not having European football this season?"

Jürgen Klopp: "I am not too sure. Maybe you can ask Man Utd in January."
