Trent, Salah and VVD

Keep Virgil for a few more years until Colwill gets more experience and improves - then we can pick him up on a free.

Arne Slot: "It's a good thing that everybody [at Liverpool] wants their contracts to be renewed." Well, it is a good thing that he says that. That what he has stated serves two key purposes.

1: Increases the market value of those players. That is always good and that is what smart clubs with smart owners always do. Everyone in Europe and in Spain and at places like Real Madrid thinking that everyone at Liverpool wants TAA's contract to be renewed is a very, very good thing. That is how clubs with smart owners increase the market value of their players so that the club can induce others to purchase those players and so that the club can get higher prices for those players. Breaking TAA's contract and taking him out of Anfield in January could bring some solid cash into the club.

2: Provides stability to the club. If club were to leak information that it is dissatisfied with the likes of TAA or with whoever else that would serve to greatly destabilize the club.

It is through things like this that one can see and notice that Liverpool Football Club has some very smart and shrewd owners. In bad clubs with poor owners and inadequate management structures things like this spill over and create great problems. That is not the case with LFC.

NEW: Virgil van Dijk has confirmed that talks over a new contract at Liverpool are under way. Speaking to reporters after Sunday's win over Chelsea, he said: "I can say obviously discussions are ongoing, but I don't know, we will see what happens in the future. My very full focus is on Liverpool, wanting to win games that are ahead of me and nothing else. What the future will bring I have no idea at the moment. I can only tell you that discussions have been started up and we will see."

If true, seems very reasonable. But source is .. not great

IMO, he should be paid less. Much less. He is getting older. Especially If he wants a two year extension. NO WAY !!!!

A one-year extension and then maaaaaybe he can get paid a little more than the harsh market value. IMO. The problem w him is that he is a captain and these things must be hashed out and discussed IN PUBLIC.

ps So that I would let his contract expire. Let him see the offers he can get from other clubs. And let him see what those clubs are. And let all Liverpool supporters see him for the attention bitch that he is. IMO.

pps IMO = In My Opinion.

I couldn't disagree with you more. The club has left it late, and to replace a player like VVD, will cost £100m and quite simply there isn't anyone with close to his traits. 2 year on the same salary I will be okay with, I can still see him being at the same level in two years.
If he left on a free, Chelsea, Real Madrid, PSG would all offer hm £300k+ and the Saudis probably £800k tax free a week

Jesus fucking Christ. Where the hell does this forum find them?

We wanted new blood in this forum, well now I realise why twitter is full of people I disagree with…

Speaking of VVD, my kid (7) had a dream that he wants to make into a book. He does this frequently, and it starts off very ambitious with an epic title and book 1 of 7 and then he moves on to the next big plan.

At any rate, it's "mythical strikers" which is a eminently watchable combination of football, greek mythology, and Zelda, as he's currently playing Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. Each player rides atop a mount befitting his stature and quality. There are rules in this by the way, you can't kill other players within the game, but at the same time he detailed how one of our players lanced the entire City team who for some reason lined up to be shish-kabobed. Perhaps violence is only allowed against City, which... well, fair enough, there's justice somewhere.

The cover of the book is his best rendering of his favourite player, VVD, riding atop a sword wielding centaur. Let that one sink in, because it's correct and has just the right amount of homoeroticism to encapsulate my feelings for the man.

This is all to say, don't break the little man's heart; we need to get this done.

But you're an Italian football fan, brand new to our club, right..?

FFS.

It's a few years back, but when I was at the club we were negotiating a new deal for a first-team centre half who was on the wrong side of 30. The starting point was a LOWER salary than he was on at the time. Long term, we didn't want to be paying him top wages at 33-34, and we had to structure the deal the way we did in part because the FA frowned upon deals where the salary decreased over the life of the contract (which practically speaking is what you would want to do with a player approaching retirement whose levels will decline and who is likely to miss more games through injury). Practically speaking, we couldn't start with a year of parity with his existing deal and then tailing off.
The player ended up moving on as he wouldn't sign the new deal. Honest opinion, we didn't miss him.
But that was then, and this is now. And this is possibly still the best centre half in world football, and that other guy wasn't. And wage inflation is still accelerating more quickly than it was then.
If these rumours are true, we should absolutely put that deal on the table for the great man and get him signed up. It sends out the right message to other players in the squad to see their leader signing up. And then I look at Pepe, and Modric, who are still doing the business at 41 and 39 respectively, and I hope to God that Virgil can do the same.
Pay the man, he's 100% worth it. As with his transfer fee, this will look like a bargain in a year or two.
If it's true, of course. And this is TeamTalk so it's probably bollocks.

Seriously, why are you guys still entertaining this bot? It's just spamming the forum.
I think a few people are just playing along to see if it goes all Godwin's law, but posing as Italian it will presumably compare everyone to Mussolini.

I'm so impressed these three lads are still giving it their professional best. Tells me, they want to stay.

I really wish the club would sort these out, regardless.

Aha OK.

Well I did notice this.
First posts from the AI:

  1. I try and watch English media too but they don't talk Chiesa. In Italy Chiesa is a big star. Juventus supporters not happy he left.

  2. I watched many Slot interviews today and the last few days. He not mention Chiesa. Not at all. I don't even know if Chiesa is still injured. He not talk about him.

Didn't take long to learn the language...

I miss a simpler time when our shit posting was the other kind of plagiarism. Now, when someone exclaims "are you for fucking real?!" on a football forum, it isn't because of some dumb opinion; it's a turing test.
