This defensive coach we need

We did only concede 40 goals the season he was here but that was probably just as much down to Kenny playing two banks of 4. We only scored 47 goals aswell.

His WBA team conceded 57 last season. He's probably a good coach but seeing as he was Rodgers boss at Chelsea I think its unlikely he'd want the roles reveresed here now.

Re: Enrique

We'd probably be on course to concede 65 if he'd been playing.

Not sure if serious or trolling.

2012/2013: (all competitions)
Enrique - 31 starts, 31 conceded

2013/2014: (all competitions)
Enrique - 9 starts, 6 conceded
Cissokho - 13 starts, 16 conceded
Flanagan - 9 starts, 12 conceded

While this is just a very crude way to look at and use stats (clearly the defence is more than just about one fullback), it at least it provides some evidence (however weak) to dispute a very silly groundless claim.

We are currently playing the' we will score more than you' system which, without a first choice back four is always dodgy...even with a high caliber team. Whether its 442, 433 or 4231 it really doesnt matter...Barca played it with world class players and won leagues and european cups but were still suspect to conceding in high profile games. Im not comparing us to them by the way but if we want to win games and titles with this format I dont believe we'll ever have a perfect defense.....we will still see genuinely great defenders (should we sign them!) be caught out time and time again as puyol and pique have been and vidic (when the scum played so high against us...but still won the league) under our once upon a time torres were. Ive seen a european cup winning barca team being caught on the break within the first minute by mourinhos madrid because they put them under so much pressure, he played that style with inter too to win a champions league. He just knows how to smother that type of football, he did it again last monday night. It remains that if we play the way we are currently we will always be subject to defensive frailties, regardless of who is in the back four, We have to just remain strong and hopefully our style gels within the squad. Our concession rate will surely go down under a fully functioning back four, but we cant wish for perfect football....At the moment my back 4 would be (when fit) Flanno on the right, sakho and skrtle in the center and enrique on the left. We have a long way to go obviously, but with so many injuries in the back four at the moment I dont think we should be as irate as we are right now, we have a great set of defenders when fit. We are obviously so much better off than this time last year..Beating Arsenal tomorrow will go a long way towards building belief in what rogers is trying to do and the core of our squad is very young and we still have to meet every title challenger at anfield. Everybody look up please!! Because thats where we're headed.....UPWARDS

Oh...and David Moyes is now managing the scum....lets all have a giggle at that...

For what it's worth - I thought we've defended set pieces very well in the last 2 games. We conceded 11 corners (Everton - 8, West Brom - 3) and I can only recall a proper goal bound effort from all of that which Mig saved brilliantly. I don't think that headed attempt was from an error in defending as well - McAuley climbed very well to head the ball and Skrtel was close to him but simply outjumped.

Make that the 3rd game in a row we defended set pieces very well. Long may it continue.

And as for the defending - well, today we showed that defence is a team game. We defended like hounds higher up, and then swarmed like agitated hornets surrounding anything that got through the first line of defence. It was exceptional team defending. Just pure brilliance.

Yeah agree, i really wish they would do a piece on this showing all teams over a weekend so we could all make a fair judgement on it instead of focussing on 1 individual, it would really put it to bed, all the other teams do it to some extent.

Just found this from the other week, yes its only one example but there really is no doubt about the fact that this sort of shit goes on all the time, its really unjust on Skrtel that its just him that gets highlighted for this, tbh i think the refs and their superiors know the score on this subject, thats why there is no issue with it.

If BT were worth a wank they would do a piece on this issue as a whole, there are a shit loads of examples every week.
