That's all fair and well Lefty, but my original point remains the same. He's not been able to attract one top drawer player, despite having a fucking fortune to spend.
Who has he tried to sign, that was world class, that turned us down because he's Rodgers?
He's lost all our good players, and hasn't been able to convince one top player to join us in over 3 years.
That;s not the point I'm making, so stop being a smart cunt.
Which of our managers have been able to attract top drawer players?

So how am I misreading this then?
You started from 'years'?
You don't need a hyped up transfer committee to identify Lazar Markovic. The most depressing aspect is that we've constructed this fabled transfer committee to maximise our chances of signing better but still it doesn't deliver.
Signs today that Markovic is coming good but none of the signings have been overwhelming. Hopefully they'll settle in and improve further but it's taken us a couple of steps backwards in the meantime. The manager shouldn't have to be forced to change the whole playing style in order to fit the players he's got.
That said, his misuse of Gerrard and, to a degree, Sterling this season has been infuriating.
Rafa had a better batting ratio
Rafa bought Alonso, Torres and Mascherano. Rodger's best signings are probably Coutinho and Sturridge and he also should get big credit for developing Sterling. I would say at this point it's still advantage Rafa, but if Coutinho develops into a player we all want him to be and Sturridge alleviates his injury problems, maybe it can be a tie. Let's see how Markovic develops, he certainly has the potential to join this group.
It's too early to write off some of these players though (as many seem to have done), not many have hit the ground running, but enough have showed signs they can be quality in years to come. Rafa had the advantage of bringing in fellow countrymen he'd grown to know in Spain and at an age where they were ready to hit the big time (Reina, Torres, Alonso), most of the up and coming quality Rodgers has bought has been, on average, three years younger. Look at Can, Moreno, Manquillo and Markovic, they all are showing signs of settling in and that they are good players who have the potential to be BIG players for us in years to come.
The fact is we fucked up over bringing in a striker, we all know that, that's where the frustration stems from. So brandishing what he did bring in as flops is easy fodder, it's also looking incredibly wide of the mark.

Mark, have you not heard of the six game theory? You get six games (if lucky) to shine or you're shit and so is/are the div(s) who signed you in the first case.
Get with the program please, first sign of an impending shitness tag is a disparaging nickname.
The Spanish league is different than PL in many ways but especially when it comes to the David and Goliath analogy. It's easier for a small team to snatch the title one year because they only need two teams to collapse.
It could easily happen in the PL couldn't it? Thinking of the last season Fergie won. That really was a shite team he pulled that of with.
Fun fact: Barcelona has a budget of 539 million euros. LLevante has 28 million euros.

Poor old Lambert.I think at this point Rodgers has a great batting average this summer. They all look like they will come good, bar balo and dodgy louvren. Can, m&m's, laser eraser, and adamski look good. That's 5 out of 7. Pretty good
Poor old Lambert.
None of those were 'top drawer' players when we signed them.
Xabi - he was by no means a big name. Yes - he became a very good player for us but he wasn't in that 'top drawer' that is being discussed.
Torres - probably the closest thing to a big name that we have ever signed given he was regularly playing for Spain and was Captain of Athletico. Was still not widely considered to be World Class (from memory when we were rumoured with signing him)
Mascherano - was a regular for Argentina by 2007 when we signed him so potentially so but he had just had a loan spell for West Ham United so again would we call him really 'top drawer'. Were we competing with anyone to sign him?
Reina - bought from Villareal but was anyone else looking to sign him? He couldn't get a game for Spain due to Casillas but was he top drawer?
I think they're all great players and the team with these chaps is probably the best I've ever watched but they were players who made their name playing for us and weren't IMO 'top drawer' when we signed them.
He'll be ok at Barca, they have rules that allows them to ignore rules like being suspended from transfers. He probably means in recent times. Anyway, Torres was not certainly a slam dunk. He's was thought of as a so-so goalscorer. He only really became a sizzler when here. After that, the curse kicked in. We make 'em and break 'em as average Luis will find out...
