, thought it was generally pitiful after 45 min. The second half they were very quite; I know everyone has been stung to many times to not feel the weight of going in only one up. But, that just wasn't what I expected - didn't drive the players on at all. Thought the players mimicked the crowd today. Whadya think?

Crowd was shite the entire second half. Think we were shocked at how poor we became

You might disagree but I really don't think us non-match-goer's have the right to criticize the crowd. It's pretty hard for the people who paid good money to get there to be motivated watching that turd of a second half performance.

yeah it can be a two way street , as times the team need to give the fans something to shout about or it can be hard to get going . Alot of the time when fans sing non-stop , especially like it is in europe or s.america , most of them aren't really even watching the game or have some tit on a loud-speaker jeering them up .

Bollocks. They are there to support the team not sit quietly on their arses expecting entertainment.

I agree, and you know i'm a season ticket holder. But by the same token, if the players look like they don't give a fuck, why should we? Today though, 1st game of the season, we should have gee-ed them up more than we did.

So i agree. a bit

Look, they went quiet long before the equalizer. The crowd was out of it when the whistle blew for the 2nd half, despite a great first half. I was sat there singing and cheering watching it on tv and extremely disappointed I couldn't hear the crowd.

As amazing as it was for the start it was shit for the 2nd half.

Yup. When performance dipped from the kick off the fans were shocked. The goal didn't knock the wind out the sails, it was the apathy of the players

I agree, but its a shame most of the kop don't

and the centenary don't sing when we're fuckin winning either!

*lone voice amongst the silence*

it was understandable, but sad. Hope all those in anfield perform better next time (of course including the players.

but there is a huge difference between this season and last. But I definitely appreciate your perspective, sir, and your involvement in the thread.

True, but last season we had the joys of suarez and dalglish joining, as well as some electric performances

This season, we've got players some people aren't convinced of

B.S.

It is a symptom of the malaise in today's society. Of the 'I want it and I want it now' mentality. It was never like that when I went to matches - we sung until we were hoarse and tried to raise the team when under pressure / behind / needed a goal. of course when I went we were never behind, never needed a goal nor were under pressure 😉

The crowd understandably twitchy when we fail to get the second goal, they have seen lower teams get equalisers far too easily in the past and this Liverpool team (or any in the past 20 years) haven't earned the right for the crowd to be patient not like in the 80's were they KNEW a late winning goal was coming. I won't ever get on the crowd's back because I totally feel their impatience and frustration.

Where to start.

First, where have we, the SUPPORTERS (look up a definition of that Neil), the right to show apathy and EXPECT entertainment. If you want entertainment, fuck off to the theatre or the cinema or some other product of entertainment. Football is a sport not a product and therefore entertainment should not be demanded or guaranteed because you or anyone has paid £40 to watch the team.

We are there to assist and inspire the team when they need our help - back to that definition of supporter again eh? Spout all the negative stuff on here, but step inside Anfield and you have the ability to assist us win games. Why on earth would people not take that opportunity? Its not like any of us have any chance to actually perform on the pitch.

The crowd were disappointing. They should be cheering the team on regardless of the performance. Don't they go to the grounds to support?

The team and crowd need to lift their performances.

Why is the crowd disappointing?

Is it the make up of the crowd? Is it the fact that football seems to be becoming a product rather than a sport in the fans and the media's eyes? Is it that more locals or old school fans are being priced out?

I'm not sure I know. The crowd can't be world beaters every game but the apathy from some people in the ground is incredible, and its got steadily worse in the 20 odd years I've been going.

Its one thing to not want to start chants, its another to sit there and moan that the players aren't good enough or performing well enough for our support. Frankly fans like that need to question their reasons for being there? Why would they want to "waste £40 on that shite"? There are plenty of people who would fill their place and ensure that they did everything to inspire their team.

I always used to sing when I went. When I was awake.

So yer knew the words and everything?

Was there today and hae to agree with the OP it was shocking. Soon as sunderland scored it was quiet WHOLE game.

I've only been to the game a handful of times. This was the best it has been for me, especially considering I was in the lower Centenary. There was actually a fair amount of singing, but it did tail off in the second half.

I was too busy taking photos.
