Takeover

So, if we get a massive takeover by some rich loony, are we about to forget the whole 'Chelsea bought the Prem' stuff?
Where do we stand?
Do we want what Chelsea & City have, despite what we've said about them in the past? Or is there another way?
If someone takes over and gives Benitez 250 mil and we win the League, does that make him a good Manager? Of course it doesn't.
So what's best?

Personally, I hope we don't get bankrolled a la Abramovich, I'd hate that. But what's the alternative? Is there one?

I'd love fan ownership to work here, and I think if the right people pushed it forward, it could. I'd love us to make this work and buy back our soul.

Its not ideal but sadly as that is the way others have done it that it pretty much the way it would need to be. The only other alternative is the kind of arrangement we have now isn't it?

Something in the middle is the vague way to put it.

If someone could come in, sort the stadium, and provide the funds for 2/3 £20mish calibre players initially without having to sell half our squad to fund it, along with allowing several smaller purchases, that'd be enough.

The annoyance with the initial Abramovich and current City model is that it'll just be sign anyone and everyone regardless of whether they're actually an integral part of their side, ending up with an outrageously large squad of overpriced but talented players (not leaving a level playing field for the other top sides).

With Arsenal's new stadium, Chelsea, City, and to a lesser extent recently, United having the potential to easily outspend us, we have to "flirt with the devil" a bit, traditions are good, but plenty have been broken during recent eras, and we can't afford to be left behind.

I want a owner who will come in with a sustainable business model that will build a new stadium, maximising revenue by leveraging our potential as one of the top clubs in the world that will ultimately allow the right level of investment in the team to allow us to compete and the highest levels and also allowing them the return on investment they deserve.

I don't want us whored out like City or Chelsea.

What Chelsea and City have done is no more or less what Madrid were doing for years. Sadly, it seems that the goalposts have shifted now, and winning championships by the old conventional means of having a top class shrewd manager who could identify one or two key signings each summer, and entice peak performance from his playing staff, have sadly passed by until the greed bubble bursts.

i keep banging this drum, but as far as i'm aware the new uefa regulations on spending will effectively rule out the sugar daddy option. ideally i want someone who'll get the stadium built ASAP and be prepared to inject maybe £50m for team-building in the interim, which i think is fairly likely to happen. i really think our prospects are good, but that doesn't make the limbo any less torturous.

Anyone who invests in the sideand allows us to win the league and have a massive new stadium will be a hero. I don't care if its a sugar daddy type. I really want to win the league. Really, really fucking badly.

On a more positive note, various lfc people I saw tonight were upbeat about off-pitch issues. No details, but all expect brighter future soon

And no one at lfc is convinced by Benitez/Juventus link. Behind scenes he continues to give impression he wants to stay

And, for now at least, I don't see lfc selling Torres. Everyone there seems to think financial pressures will ease soon.

Someone like Robert Kraft, owner of the Patriots would be perfect.

We don't need a sugar daddy.

There's a middle place between an Abramovich type and our skint, Cowboy cunts.

Let's just hope we find someone who's credible, savvy and well intentioned.

Someone like Randy Lerner then?

Yes we need an owner who takes 5m in interest out of the club each year for the money he invested alongside a 7.7m payment to a shell company he owns for "management fees"
