Sunderland (A)

Yes i understand they played today and we didnt... but there opponents today also had the same schedule so there is parity... just as we will have against Sunderland on Wednesday...

But however you cut it the scheduling gives West ham a rest advantage over us for the game which we will play against them...

And no its not complicated its just unfair.
I know what you are saying - said the same myself to my sons earlier. However, on reflection, we will both be playing 3 times in a week. While we do get less time to recuperate for Saturday, our games are spaced better, and West Ham will need longer to recuperate from 2 games in 2 days initially. I do agree that they have an advantage - but it may not be as pronounced as initially appears.

It's really getting to the stage where we can't drop points if we want to maintain a slim hope of top 4. It's very bunched this season. If We had lost Saturday we'd be 12th and 11 points off 4th going into this match.

We simply need a run of 5/6 wins on the bounce. Will be interesting to see if the wheels come off for Vardy and co after we beat them.

I fucking hate Sam Allardyce so I hope we thump them.

His teams do seem to beat us often though.

BBC saying Studge is back in training and good to go. Hopefully will be at least sat on the bench

It's Liverpool's bogeyman, Fat Sam.

We'd do well to keep our hopes down for this one, to avoid having them crushed before the start of a new year.

Totally with you on this analysis - but I would also add that our goal difference is so rubbish that there is a very likely chance of teams finishing on the same points for even 3rd/4th position and goal difference coming into the equation to decide the final standings. But you are right - we need those 5 to 6 wins on the bounce and this is very unlikely given recent results. This season has been so strange - the results between Newcastle, WBA, and Watford have completely taken us of course of any hope we had of getting 4th or even the possibility of winning the title.

MORON

Im not sure its absolutely hopeless our chance of getting top 4...

We do need to fucking spank these next 2 though just to put a little momentum in there

This is exactly the sort of situation I expect us to drop points in.
Yep, the squad won't raise their game for this match, whilst Sunderland will, and they'll beat us because they wanted it more, that is the Liverpool way.

Sadly that has been the case, but hopefully Klopp will get them going.

As stated previously we are not capable of putting together back to back performances and we will not get anything from tomorrow followed by a humping from West Ham on Saturday.

It is written that Borini and Carol will be the executioners

Can Benteke be trusted to start games, particularly away ones?

I think we have to start him. At least he's realised that he has to run more and work harder.
He also scores more goals in the second part of the season. Lets hope he starts doing that tonight.
Ibe has been ill for a week and only returned to training yesterday, doubt he'll start.

I dreamt last night that Defoe scored two goals. Sooo..

Both of those are big numbers in context though
They are NOT big numbers when taken in relation to any one team. It only needs us to gain 5 points more in the 2nd half of the season than the 1st (after Sunderland) and, for example, Leicester to gain 5 points less in the 2nd than the 1st, to see us finish above them. Both likely scenarios when everything is taken into consideration. That's highly unlikely to happen for all of the current Top 4 teams but for us to finish in the Top 4 is not unlikely at all. I also say it is more likely Liverpool will improve in the 2nd half of the season than Palace, United or Watford.
