How are you all feeling about Mr Rodgers and the job he has done so far?
I think its widely known that I love the cunt. I especially love the fact he seems to be slimming down and trying to look like a right sexy wee cunt:

I especially love the paradoxical dichotomy between him looking like a fucking rock hard mafia don and actually being a playful oversexed pussycat. It will leave players not knowing where the fuck they stand with him and less likely to take the piss.

I also like the way he has gone from almost doe eyed giddyness at being the manager of Liverpool to being resolute and strong in his attitude with players and especially the ruthless nature he has had in ripping Kennys mess apart. It must have taken balls to go to the hooded claw and say 'You know that 100m you spent......'
His signings:
Allen
Assaidi
Alberto
Aspas
Kolo
Mignolet
Borini
Coutinho
Sturridge
are still a mixed bag, but given that they combined cost less than Carroll, Downing and Henderson he has done a good job and most of them have a lot of potential to improve. I also think its safe to say that (as we are in the moneyball age) he could sell the lot for a profit if he chose to.
But by the by, he has had what he has had to spend and has in the main part improved the squad. He also seems to have that knack of getting more out of players than others thought able, Downing and Henderson the two obvious choices (hopefully he can do this with one of his own players this year in Borini, we need Borini to step up big time).
He had a mixed first season with results, but then the squad is/was so imbalanced and so full of overpaid wastes of space that I can only hold him so responsible.
I like the football he wants us to play, I like the kind of players he is trying to bring in, I like the way he talks about the club. There has been very little that hasnt impressed me in the last 13 months. Results need to improve but since the day he came in they have been improving. And if we can start like we finished (I know we are always saying this) then we could be about to get back into the big leagues.

My one and only concern is that we still dont have a strong enough midfield in the middle. Maybe Mr Rodgers now exclusively sees Gerrard in that role with Lucas, and I have to be honest, I thought the two of them were brilliant in the Stoke game, they broke up play well and they flew into challenges, nothing came through our centre, but I would like to see Gerrard playing further forward and another player in next to Wonderman.
But regardless, im happy as a pig in shit. Maybe coz I have a man crush on Mr Rodgers. I think hes the fucking Don.

You are such a subversive little cunt. No wonder your country is ALWAYS at war.

If you don't listen to me young man, I am going to reveal ALL the secrets about how you raise money through the sex trade in Vietnam. ALL OF THEM. You've been warned. I want my position back, plus benefits and if possible, a skoda. Cheers

Ok. Ive added you.
Im not adding anyone else though. Bandwagon jumpers can get to fuck. Especially when we beat United in two weeks.
"Oh ive always loved Mr Rodgers, I think we will win the league"
GET FUCKED.
Most of you cunts dont even call him 'Mr'

Shameful.

I like your post btw ... For some reason, unlike since Rafa's last year or so, I'm remarkably calm. I just think things are starting to finally re-align themselves after the last 20 years ... great yooth, smart signings, the club starting to educate itself again about how to run itself and players that are hungry and are hitting their peak.

He's making the same mistakes as the rest of them.

We've done better without Gerrard than with him for six years now, yet he'll start all the time.

And we're still trotting out Johnson, Agger and Lucas.

And the Skrtel contract extension is outrageous.

Dont give me your sectarian bullshit man.

Good post. I agree about the midfield. Would also like him to bring in a monster of a CB too. He has grown on me. Less Brent more Shanks over the past few months. This season is key though. I would prefer him to stop saying 'going forward'. Cautiously optimistic now.

See I was going to mention a CB but considering how superb Kolo has been in all our pre-season games and the first game of the season I dont think its fair too.
I know a lot of folks wont be happy until we pay 15m for a Euroslab, and I was very critical of bringing in Kolo but he so far has justified the decision and whilst the jury will remain out all season I cant justify talking about him not strengthening the CB positions, because he just might have.
Lets not forget we kept 5 clean sheets in our last 7 games last season and have kept 5 in 6 this pre(and)season.

I didn't mean to replace Toure per se. Agger is easily capable of worrying me more, but if he doesn't rate Skittles then we might as well sell him and buy a better CB. Having said that, if we keep Skittles, have Agger and Toure as first choice and have Wisdom, Coates and Kelly all as back up across the back four then that's pretty good.
As for preseason, pfft. Means nowt.
I'm not convinced by Mignolet either, but time will tell. His signings so far have been pretty good on the whole. Even a 50/50 split between good and bad signings is alright these days isn't it?
One thing I do love about him is he doesn't play favourites. Players seem to get in on merit. I was amazed to see Henderson ahead of Allen and he isn't trying to ram home Borini by bringing him on regularly either.
The man is beginning to impress, he clearly is able to learn as he goes and be flexible. Good signs all round.
Of course if he go to Villa and get our arses handed to us...

I dread to think what will happen or be said on here if we get beat by Villa...

Indeed. Worryingly Lambert has had the indian sign over Rodgers in the past. I think when we beat Villa at home last season it was the first time he'd beaten a Lambert team in six attempts or summat.

All in all, agree, quite pleased with the direction we're going, the football we're playing and what's happening at the club.

Onwards and upwards, just need to remember from where we've come.

I think the night we went out of the Europa League was the turning point for him. Before that he'd been a bit semi-detached, torn between bigging himself up and trying to insinuate himself into the club's traditions (whilst still reminiscing dreamily about his days with Maureen and Swansea), but the passion of the crowd that night seemed to bowl him over, and since then he seems to really feel connected to the club. He seems to get it. A pot of LFC red paint fell down on his head. And the signings have been good - they generally always have been - and he's learnt to be a bit more pragmatic in his approach to the team, which has helped him get more out of who is actually here rather than all of those Spanish phantoms that used to dance around inside his head. And on top of all of that, Suarez has inadvertently handed him the ideal opportunity to prove his strength as a leader, so it's very positive at present.

I was going to start a less overtly gay version of this thread tonight but you've beaten me to it (with pink bells on).

I'd go as far as to suggest that this young manager might well turn out to be the next veritable managerial legend of this great club.

Interesting post mate ... Give us some more insight about that night etc - just curious

I just think he'd talked stuff up before then, almost to convince himself as much as others, but that was his first real Anfield night, we played pretty well, the Kop was great and I think something lit up inside him. It was 'us' after that. I know a few hacks who talked to him afterwards and they said he seemed quite emotional about it. He just kept talking about the fans. I think that's when it all became natural.

I really like him and I think he's been a very good appointment.

I had doubts when we were first linked with him, but he started to impress me the moment he stood up to the board by refusing to work with a DOF, and he has continued to do so since. There's areas he needs to improve on, which Keni described well in another thread, but overall I'm happy with the progress we're making.
