I really don't want to get dragged into an agenda driven argument that disrupts the whole thread but that post is largely in error JJ.
There's no "agree to disagree" aspect, you've just posted a criticism which wasn't based on the Stoke match at all. Lucas made multiple passes in the forward third, crisp passes designed to start something and was largely successful. They weren't "tiddly" little passes, they were through traffic to players on the edge of the box or around the penalty area.
Even further, he was one of the least negative players we had - particularly first half. While the rest of the squad seems infected by this malaise that requires them to pass backwards, he was constantly looking to get it forward. The reason this myth of him making short, sideways or backward passes has been perpetuated by excellent posters remains a mystery to me.
He's certainly not the second coming or anything like it, he's had about 18 months in 6 years of form worthy of a title challenger and if he can't find it again quickly then we need to get better. But using criticism's which have been proven wrong statistically time and again is just lazy and tired. When it is perpetuated by otherwise excellent posters it becomes as annoying as the trolls we have to endure too regularly.
