It's a very hard question to answer, for me anyway. You could use any of the listed names and be correct to some extent. I did think a few we're going to be decent for us. See below.

Degen!!! What an odd player. He looked like he had bags of pace and had the confidence to go with it but seemed to be weak and he lacked ambition. Why was he always smirking? He smirked at every opportunity, taking a throw in, after crossing the ball, etc. I don't think he took his career seriously at all and was happy to lounge about picking up his wages.

Jovanovic is another on the list and another who perplexed me. I was at his debut against Arsenal. He was a bit of beast that day. I remember him getting a standing ovation and thinking we had a player here. I liked what I saw of him in the national team and he was top scorer in Belgium one year if that means anything. He was quoted saying that he picked us over Inter Milan but we were soon left with a moody player on a high wage. Was he called the snake? Shit nickname.

I won't have a bad word said about Bolo. He was a gent and the glue that held us all together. Or so Rafa told us. One game stands out for me when I think of Bolo and it was the Community Shield against Chelsea. The game Momo ran riot in. Zenden was excellent that day. When he isn't speaking multiple languages or acting as a human glue he is doing this.

Voronin pissed me off for a few reasons. One was because he had a 'decent' pedigree. Scored a bit in Germany and was a respected international striker at that stage for the Ukraine. Another was his hair. Just fucking cut it man.I think we used to call him The Wrestler, apt for his look. I don't think his body could keep time with his brain. He had great ideas but couldn't execute them. I always liked him and was happy he had his fleeting moments. He was center stage in the drubbing of Besitkas but as a whole he was thoroughly disappointing. I wasn't expecting to get Dimitar Berbatov but then again I wasn't expecting his chav to grace our famous shirt.

I was excited when we signed Cole. I hated him as a player, his head, his voice, his sweat bands the lot, but on his day for Chelsea he was very good and always spoke highly about us as a club. He had a terrible start, red carded and injured in a matter of weeks. He never found form or a position in the team for us and got paid a fuck load of money to do this. Let's just blame Purslow yeah? His loan spell was odd too. I was so naive. I actually believed it was giving us first refusal on Eden Hazard. Maybe it did, and Hazard just said...erm... No.

"Anything Messi can do, Joe can do".

But you need a shite player so that you can say "even he won the [insert league/cup] medal" like Traore.

Anyway, how about Aqualini? I never thought anyone can out-injure Kewell and then came Alberto.

Got to be Degen (3 years, 12 shite appearances) or Cole (£5M sign on fee, you cunt Purslow!).

Voronin was shite, with a mouthy chav wife, but at least he could turn and belt a shot now and again.

I hated Nabil El Zhar. I used to grimace at the sight of him warming up and recoil in horror when he entered the field. I'm probably just chatting shit but it felt like we never won a game when he came on as a sub. If we were chasing a game and our hail mary was El Zhar then we were fucked. The Boro game sticks out in my mind. I just knew we weren't winning. It was late in the season. I think we went on to beat United the following week but that loss was devastating at the time. I blamed El Zhar. I think he scored a cracker recently there for some club or other. He's still alive and kicking anyway.

Nuri Sahin doesn't deserve to be on the list. He is an excellent player and will have a very good career. It just didn't work out for him here and I felt he was deployed in a odd position for us. He is a deep lying midfielder yet we played as an attacking midfielder.

Hated Zendon the most but Voronin is surely the actually worst.

Ally is f*cking rubbish, I can't believe he is getting game time. He offers absolutely nothing and makes Traore look a decent player in comparison at left back.

Surely Enrique will get his place back now at least until Janurary.

I agree with Ryan's original thoughts on putting Nuri Sahin on the list, that it's the expectation that comes with certain free/loan signings that leaves you gutted/annoyed when they fail. For me it has to be Sahin because with nearly all the others I had little or no hope that they would prove valuable.

On a side note.....Bjorn Kvarme was actually a very talented footballer but never showed it for us. I had a season ticket back in the days he used to play for us and was regularly impressed by some of his ball control/skills for a defender but unfortunately he made too many basic errors. I think he can be likened to Phil Babb in that they couldn't handle playing for a "big" team.

I watched a football seniors tournament during the summer, it was played in Malaysia and LFC sent a strong team including Fowler, McManaman, Hamann, Kvarme etc. United also sent a strong team as did a few others and Kvarme was the best player on show as LFC won the trophy!

Wow.. for me Kvarme is still one of the worst defenders I have ever seen in a Liverpool shirt. I don't doubt you watched him more thorough than me back then but I was absolutely amazed to see him in the team so often as was the case.

The talent you refer to, did not see that at all.

Then surely it's more a case of we failed with Sahin than the other way round?

The lad's doing well at Dortmund.

Sahin, guy used to coast along in games, hopelessly out of depth for the premier league.

Degan. was dreadful. Part of rafas (bizarre) crusade to find a replacement for finnan, who at the time was one of our better players. Also included Konkramp (?), was he a free too?

He was a funny player Zenden, he was tidy and technically good but I was never quite sure what he was supposed to be. Not quick enough to be a winger, not a good enough passer, etc..

He was a good player for a shit football team and a shit player for a good football team.

I remember some epic youtube clips for Degen which had me very optimistic!

Cissokho is shite - his poor positioning is partly at fault for Cazorla's goal (I think that is the goal i'm thinking of, where Sakho is pulled out of defence to press where Cissokho should have been pressing, leaving the gap that Cazorla ran into for his follow up header.

Voronin - again, he scored that pre season goal that had us all creaming but he was useless.

Jovanovic - he was helped by how useless the likes of Konchesky, Cole and that Danish DM whos name I have forgotten were that we almost overlooked his level of average!

Jovanovic, he was a moody prick who thought he was too good for us, he wasnt even good enough for the reserves

As to Cissohko, hes lucky we are winning games cos hes appalling and if we were dropping points he would be getting destroyed, hes like Traore on steroids, I dont understand what hes supposed to be good at, cant defend, never takes on a player, hes sluggish, his passing is atrocious, he even lacks basic skills like controlling the ball. If he had just been promoted from the reserves everybody would be saying 'hes shit he will never make it' the fact hes 26 means he is unlikely to improve and we should get the fuck rid as soon as possible, Id rather see somebody from the reserves get a chance than him

Aren't you thinking of Voronin? I thought was quite respectful considering Budgie played him out of position and bombed him out of the team when he didn't play well.

Nah he was always in a strop, don't remember him turning in 1 decent performance

Poulsen is lucky to actually have demanded a fee otherwise he would've been up there with the worst.

He is weirdly enough doing decently for Ajax now even in their Champions League matches. Certainly more his level Holland at this stage.

Diao for em would also have been in contention but he costed quite a lot didn't he?

Yeah, I watched that too. Kvarme was scoring for fun. Fowler was deadly. Utd were fucking rubbish. The whole thing was great!
