[article=http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/liverpool/10504418/Liverpool-charged-with-taking-Anfield-form-on-the-road-as-they-push-for-top-four-finish-and-Champions-League-spot.html]This 4-1 victory against West Ham United was Liverpool’s seventh Anfield win in eight home Premier League games. They have scored 22 goals over the course of those fixtures, 20 in the last five.

To give that some perspective, that is one more home victory than the club achieved in the entirety of the season prior to the arrival of Rodgers, and just two goals short. Liverpool have 11 more points than this time last season. In 18 months, without a radical change of personnel, Rodgers has restored an identity.[/article]

While van Persie played as a No. 10 at Old Trafford, so did Philippe Coutinho at Anfield. The difference, perhaps, is that one is expected to be more of a scorer and the other more of a creator, and although Coutinho was not directly involved in any of Liverpool's four goals, his pass map indicates the influence he exerted. Philippe Coutinho's pass map shows his influence against West Ham.

Other / ESPN Stats & Information Philippe Coutinho's pass map shows his influence against West Ham. Coutinho's 95 touches were the most of anyone on the pitch, and his 64 passes were second only to Joe Allen. However, the key element is that the Brazilian was finding teammates in dangerous positions. He attempted 36 passes in the final third, completing 26 and, as the diagram shows, he often picked out Liverpool players in the penalty box. It is the kind of penetrative passing few players can rival.

Good stats Binny. That Anfield performance stat is good. Makes the "unconvinced by Rodgers" critics that were out last week post Hull look a little silly. That said, I wished had Sturridge and Gerrard fit going into Christmas so we could properly assess progress.

Dion Dublin scored 111 PL goals of which 45 were headers.

Out of Alan Shearers 260 PL goals 46 were headers.

Les Ferdinand scored 149 PL goals and 43 were headers.

[article=http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/chelsea-opinion-jose-mourinhos-post-stoke-2908210#ixzz2mzYyJk00 ]In Mourinho's first season, Chelsea lost five games (Manchester City, Newcastle, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Liverpool) in all competitions. This time round, they have already lost as many – Everton, Newcastle, Stoke and Basel twice.

In 2004-05, they conceded 15 Premier League goals. In 2013-14 they have ALREADY conceded 17.

That first Blues title-winning side dropped 11 points away from home in the entire campaign. This season, the away record reads: P8 W3 D2 L3 - already 13 points squandered.

Even two seasons ago, under the brief reign of Andre Villas-Boas, Chelsea had 31 points from their first 15 games. Since then, Villas-Boas, Roberto Di Matteo, Rafa Benitez and Mourinho have spent between them £175m. This season, 15 games have brought 30 points.

Of course, it is far from doom and gloom. Indeed, should Arsenal lose at Manchester City on Saturday - you would have to suggest that is the most likely outcome - Chelsea would, assuming a ''gimme'' victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday, go to the Emirates on December 23 with the chance to be make themselves the Christmas No 1.[/article]

Arsenal have the same points (35) and the same number of goals conceded (11) as their Invincibles year of 2003/04. They have actually scored one more goal.

Aston Villa play more long balls per game (70) than any other team in the Premier League.

Chelsea's 30 points from 15 PL matches is the lowest total for any Jose Mourinho side at any club in his career.

Everton have the best record in the PL against top-half sides: 15 points from eight games.

Liverpool are 11 points and 15 goals better off than the same stage last season; they have conceded the same number of goals (18).

Moyes' United is 14 points, 15 goals, 1,522 passes, 38 shots and 6% average possession down on Ferguson's Man United after 15 games last season.

Norwich City have picked up an impressive 13 points from six games against teams in the bottom half; that record is better than that of Manchester City and Everton.

James Ward-Prowse remains the crossing king of the PL with 43 of 113 attempts this season reaching a teammate.

Sunderland have thrown away 11 points from winning positions this season - more than any other PL side.

Swansea top the PL possession (59.7%) and pass accuracy (87%) charts this season.

Tottenham's haul of 27 points from 15 games has only been bettered once in their PL history - in 2011/12.

West Ham are nine points and six goals worse off than the same stage last season.

That Spurs stat is surprising given how people have been calling for AVB's head.

Yeah. They've been managing to accrue points, even if the manner of those victories hasn't exactly convinced.

As well as topping & qualifying from their Europa League, not an easy thing to do whilst staying in touch in the league.

Holy guacamole. That hopeless lump Gomis and Mike Newell top of the list. Have I wandered into a parallel universe or something?

We had a great run of years there under Rafa.

Those CL years under Rafa were awesome, I loved it, all those trips abroad, the memories...Do we have a wistful smiley?

#MCFC have reached 50 goals at home (all competitions), in 12 games - including vs Munich, #MUFC, Arsenal and Spurs

Manchester City have scored in 58 consecutive home games in the Premier League; a run dating back to November 2010.

Man City have scored 6+ goals in three games in a single top-flight season for the first time since 1937-38.

35 - The last top-flight team to score as many goals as Man City in their opening eight home games were Spurs in 1962-63.

Yep, you're right - shoulda checked before posting really.

Citeh might yet be on for it this season though.

The only reason I'm in possession of that knowledge was 15 years ago I was a trainee teacher in a north London school and our sports master was Cliff Jones who was the left wing in that very side. Way before I was born but apparently he was a class player, Lovely fella he was and could always tell the kids about the time he refused to swap his Wales shirt with the 17yo Pele in the 1958 world cup when Pele asked him for it out of admiration!!

... tended to shut up the gobby ones who thought they were the charlie big spuds 'cos they were on the youth books round the corner at Highbury...

All that nostalgia aside... yeah... City look really fantastic, you have to love Toure, WHAT a player he is.

Its not certain they will win it though, they still suffer a bit from travel sickness.

Fingers crossed they have a huge off day when we play them.

Ain't that the truth. Key for them also IMO will be keeping Kompany fit and in form.

Cliff Jones was a good player and an interesting one. He was indeed the left winger for the Tottenham double winners but he was also good in the air, hence dangerous coming in off his wing to meet a cross from the right. In those days wingers were definitely regarded as forward players, not midfielders, but at times Jones boyo played more like the wide midfielders you see today because of his combination of skills

[article=http://as.com/diarioas/2013/12/14/english/1387042916_026305.html]Sergio Ramos was once again given his marching orders in today’s game against Osasuna. This was his 18th sending off in the colours of Real Madrid, and came after the defender received two yellow cards. The first for a foul, followed by a vitriolic protest at the assistant referee for raising his flag and then, just before half time, for an elbow to Roberto Torres’ face in the midfield. Ancelotti looked none too pleased at this latest act of indiscipline from his star defender; however he avoided saying anything as Ramos walked off the pitch, unlike his pointed comments to the player when he was sent off against Galatasaray.

Sergio Ramos has been sent off 13 times in the league and 18 in total with Madrid. Having played 371 games that means he’s seen a red card every 21 games. He’s the seventh most sent off player in the league and the most sent off player in the history of Madrid. Fernando Hierro, who was sent off 12 times, is second on the list of shame. Ramos is the Spanish player who’s seen red most often in the Champions League (3) and just one away from Edgar Davids less than enviable record.[/article]

[article]Not since 2008 have Liverpool topped the table on Christmas Day, though if they beat Cardiff at Anfield on Saturday and Arsenal fail to overcome Chelsea the following Monday, the honour will be theirs.

Liverpool finished second that season, runners-up behind Manchester United and, in the intervening years, they have gone through three different managers, one set of American owners and one director of football[/article]
[article]Liverpool have won 10 of their 16 games whereas last season, when Rodgers was looking to impose his philosophy, it was 27 games before their victories reached double figures. They are 11 points better off than at the same stage last term.[/article]
[article]To put Luis Suarez's scoring feats into context, Robbie Fowler had plundered the most Premier League goals of any Liverpool player before Christmas prior to Sunday with 16 in 19 games in 1995-96. Suarez has 17 in just 11 matches and, with the captain’s armband wrapped around his bicep in Gerrard’s absence, led by example.[/article]
[article=http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/449091/Liverpool-s-Brendan-Rodgers-eyes-top-of-the-tree]Liverpool’s starting line-up against Tottenham was their youngest since a league game at Arsenal in April 2008.

Steven Gerrard’s injury meant it was the first time Rodgers had selected a team of players all under 30 – Glen Johnson and Martin Skrtel are both 29 – and the average age was 24 years and 215 days.[/article]
