Spurs v Liverpool match thread

That was a poor choice from Lallana, that was actually a superb chance after he turned his man if he hit it anywhere but where he did.

That picture in picture of BT Sport actually helped then. We were playing it back & you could see him showing them where the outlet was to get it forward straight away.

I don't give a shit tbh. Gerrard never liked playing there yet had his best performances (over a season) there too.

Players don't always like or know what's best for them, they're emotionally stunted so are basically kids in many ways & this is one area it often shows itself.

While that description is often true, I don't think it actually applies to Milner. Besides, it's precisely because a lot of players are so immature that I wouldn't generally want to play them in positions they don't like for any length of time. Even Stevie was shifted back to the centre eventually (I don't really agree that his best season was that one out wide BTW - it was his best season's goal tally, but that's not the only criterion for a midfielder). Milner will play wide if asked, no bother - I'd just as soon we didn't ask him too often.

I partly agree. He had much better individual performances over seasons but that one helped the team grow immeasurably & he contributed more as a result (he wasn't trying to do three jobs at once). This isn't the place for that debate though, & I'm sure we've done it once or twice in the past anyway!

We still look unsure when the ball gets into our defensive third unfortunately. Gonna take a while for that to change.

Milner is playing centrally with Can, with Coutinho and Lallana in front of them, and Lucas behind.

Origi is working hard, but needs to show more. There was a ball in by Coutinho earlier and he waited for the ball while a defender nipped in. Sturridge wouldn't be waiting for it.

We're definitely showing a more fighting spirit today.
Look absolutely shag knackered already, but you can't say they're not trying to already implement Klopps wishes.
Good stuff so far - totally forcing Spurs into a lot of mistakes.
