Our beloved owners have now decided that all season ticket renewals have to be completed by May 28th this year, over a month earlier than normal. Just in case you're interested

That's loads of time. The season ended ages ago so you should know by now.

On a serous note, showers of wankers.

I suppose this change is to coincide with the change of the reporting period. Since the last financial report covered the period from Aug 2011 to end-May 2012 and the next one will report the year's accounts from Aug 2012 to end-May 2013, then any renewal revenues in June get dropped off in the shortened report. So compressing the renewal period makes sense from a reporting standpoint (and makes the report look a little bit nicer too, assuming there are usually a fair number of late renewals in June).

It's the lack of notice about the change. Its just dropped on people and most people have got to find extra money this year as well thanks to the new tiered ticketing system.

The lack of notice is bad form from the owners. Restructuring the season ticket prices were bound to happen though, as we're currently offering the same prices as Norwich while Spurs/Arsenal are twice as expencive.

Its shite and should be more in line with the Bundesliga, but sadly money talks over atmosphere and fans these days.

In all honesty its pretty seldom I go to a match now anyway but hearing stuff like this is slowly but surely killing my love of football.

I think when it gets to a point when a sport and a passion turns into a business , commercial body it'll inevitably go a bit shit.. 🙁 were all well past that point now

It's amazing they didn't give any notice at all but it just shows what world our owners & management live in to just assume it wont make an impact on fans.

My plan is to split it with my brother next season (providing piedro is still up for it of course [piedros always up for it of course {of course}])

Isn't there a payment plan for season ticket renewals to spread the cost?

Let's face it, the club have no interest in the Ordinary Joe supporter as we don't generate any cash for them. We go for a bevy outside the ground, stroll up 5 minutes before kick off, spend nothing in the ground or club shop. They'd sooner sell the tickets to supporters who make one or two visits a season and partake in the full Anfield experience.

I would say it is only a matter of time before tickets don't go on general sale any more but are sold as part of a match package.
This will more likely be about twenty quid over the face value of the match ticket but will include £20 credit to be spent inside the ground and some stupid cheap souvenir.
That is the only way non Dutch nationals can get tickets to see Ajax play at home through the club web site.

Thing is, season tickets are outmoded.

If football was invented now you'd just accept it is another entertainment and something that you might go to a few times a year and make a big day of.

Sadly, this is very true. That's how I've become forced to see it, having been hammered by turning 16 about the same time ticket prices shot up, so went from paying for my ticket, programme & chip butty while I waited to get in the Kop with my paper round money to needing to spend more than half my full weeks wages to get in within one season. Was never gonna happen.

Of the 5 of us that went almost every home game from 1989 to 1995 only 3 of us ever get to the game & that's only once or twice a season, & we don't even have to pay to travel.

It's a business the Pandora's box was opened when everyone was clamouring for Moore's to sell up. Like it or not we can't shut the fucking lid on it now.
It's the owners prerogative to do what they like to look after their own interests, it's our prerogative to tell them to fuck off if we don't want what's on offer.
Portly and I will be renewing our three tickets as per usual, at least I assume we will.
At the end of the day we and the owners want the same thing a successful club, but of course we will have different views on how to achieve that.
We are governed by the basic laws of economics supply and demand.
It's up to hem how they spend the two and a half grand we give them each year.
At least when Moore's and Parry were around they were answerable to the AGM, I miss them

regards

I'm not so sure about that George
You missed off the salient bit from the end of what I said Mr S 😉
Of course they want a successful club, regardless of what their motives are, or what people might think they are.
Unless it is some United plot to buy us and run us into the ground, which , if so, they seem to be failing quite badly at from what I can see.
Which is, we are on a much stronger and stable financial footing, our business plans , at least we actually have plans these days, seem to be working, our marketing and partnership schemes are stronger than we have ever seen, and in fact I believe we are heading in the right direction on the pitch.
It's work in progress on all levels, and everyone acknowledged when they took over it would take time, and I would have thought it sensible to expect a little pain.

That 'debate' is draining to read. Sos asked a few good questions but then asked them over & over instead of expanding more on the really important bits. For example, the club spoke twice about tickets reducing then increasing elsewhere to make up for it, & knowing how much they wanted from 'that revenue stream' overall.

However they claimed they didn't have corporate prices nailed down yet. If so then I'd argue why not look at using the corporate seats to offset the kids seats or similar.

The commitment to kids seats sounds good, but they need to ensure that there is a section for kids & a section for youth where it's easy to get seats together at an affordable price, having to go with an adult not only makes it less appealing, it means they won't be singing & shouting as much.
