Rodger's summer spending

I'm with tony and gkmacca here. We had a better league season last year than the one before, resulting in being 7th instead of 8th. The only other 'achievements' are embarrassing cup defeats. It's too early to make any reasonable assessments of BR at this time.

Really? People went on about the bread and butter of the league when we were mustering up one league challenge each in over a decade between Houllier and Rafa, now we're looking to be at least on the right track within under 18 months, there's no real barometer of success to measure him against. Really? In a more competitive league where he's not fighting against 2 or 3 teams, but 6 or 7?

On the right track is great. But it's not where you start, nor where you are part way through, it's only ever been about where you finish. So why not wait until May and plot two season's worth of results against previous seasons and current expectations? Then we can all make a judgement based on that.

Fair enough, half the threads on here since Sunday have been about how marginal his success rate is right now, how he's not that great after all, how shite his spending is and how poorly he's handling the media. Symptomatic of the last few days, you lose a game & the clubs walls are crashing down. It's not really is it? We just haven't hit top gear but we've done ok. We lost a game because of poor selection, injury, a few shite signings, poor attitude from some players who need a boot up the arse and two fortuitous deflections. Shit happens.

well i've been indifferent to rodgers since he got the job , mainly because i knew very little about him . I mean let's be realistic , he'd done fuck all in the game to suggest he really deserved the job or give confidence he was the man to get us back competing at the top . So i've always taken the stand point that he has everything to prove , i'm past just blindly supporting a manager (and player) just because some clueless fools gave him the job . Anyway so far it's been nothing more than average with as many new issues to resolve as we fix and then capped with poor transfer dealings ( so much of football management is defined by your transfer dealings ) .

And others , well i'm probably wrong but i suspect niggles people have had about him are coming out after recent performances.
Anyway, i think we nearly all agree that we just have to see where we are at the end of the season , it's too hard to call now . But the honeymoon period is well and truly over , which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

So let's all just come back in may .

It's very minimal so far if we're being honest. So far he's had us bomb out of three domestic competitions, twice to lower league teams, and run out of ideas in one European competition, whilst ending up one position higher in the league. This season looks more promising, but let's cut out the old 'it was the direst situation in history when he took over and now it's all sunshine and light' bollocks (it's SO last season) and just sit back and see what he does and doesn't achieve.

If Rodgers had presided over Dalglish's time here and produced the same god-fucking-awful output, I'd love to know what your reaction would be to him then.

Oh I can guess what that's about. Oh well, that's the beauty of the world wide web - the chances, without it, of being crudely abused by some brainless pub player who's had to go to the other end of the world to get a game and find people stupid enough to think he knows what he's talking about would be incredibly slim.

Much like being patronised by a brainless pub writer who's had to go and write unauthorised biographies on hack comedians from the 70's coming on a fucking internet forum to impress people with his wordsmithing eh?

I've got news for you dickhead; YOUR 'CRAIG BELLAMY LIKES MEAT' funnies were humourous for about 6 seconds. We were all just too polite to tell you cos you went to all that trouble of adding in pics and italicizing the font. Bless.

if you told me whether I would accept top 4 by this time of year I would bite your hands off. however, BR has made some bizarre decisions over the summer, in particular buying aspas and alberto and loaning suso? We could be with Suso and another midfielder/attacker in the 13-15m category.

I'm wondering what those unauthorised biographies of hack comedians from the 70s are.

Come on, don't be coy, full disclosure please. What comedian? Is the book for sale? How about a library?

He's wrote a fair few, I'm guessing Macca prefers his privacy though, let's just say they're well considered and have been used a fair bit as reference in TV etc, so they're not just "unauthorised pub standard biographies" or whatever the shite was Ryan said.

Well done to Macca then. I always thought he wrote fairly well. 😉

You've done this before, haven't you, laying out teaser info just enough to get people to pay up. You probably work in the financial sector, or something.
