While we've been linked with Shaqiri on loan, it seems - going by today's headlines - that there's quite a bit of discontent at the club. Some of their top young players aren't getting the games they want, and it seems a few of them will be leaving.

The article is basically saying that Muller would be open to leaving as he doesn't play as much as he did last year - the problem is that that could mean Manure (Van Gaal brought him to the senior squad). He'd be an excellent addition - but if Javi Martinez (I mentioned him on the match thread) is available, we should be all over that. He can play CB, DM and CM. Engine, power and good passing range ... He'd cost 25 million, but he's quite a talent..

Last but not least the Bild says Goetze and Pep have a 'meh' relationship and the player himself isn't too happy, "Of course I’m not happy. But I will keep pushing and hope to be back soon with the trust of the coach to play from the beginning." He would be a coup ... Not much of a chance for us I guess, but the kid during a supposed 'bad' season has contributed to 25 goals this years (12 goals, 13 assists). He's a real talent.

They ended up with a few too many "first-teamers" so it always felt like this was on the cards. The signings of Goetze and Thiago were arguably unnecessary. They should've signed a striker last summer.

I wouldn't be too keen on Muller. He's the finished product of what some people think we have in Borini - great movement and finishing - but I like the fact that the qualities of our current crop are visible to the naked eye (skill, pace, technique) and I'd rather buy more players in that vein.

Martinez would be a very good addition but he'd face the same problem here as he does at Bayern though - Gerrard at DM and a lot of competition at CB. So it wouldn't really make sense.

Goetze is probably the one but I don't think they'll let him go.

I wonder whether Goetze is concerned that his chances will be limited further when Lewandowski arrives this summer.

Seems unlikely given that Lewandowski will simply replace Mandzukic as the focal point for the attack up top.

Goetze really needs Ribery to fuck off and judging by the latter's performances in the last few CL games, maybe that will happen.

Very true. I don't know whether Goetze has an opinion as to where he feels he should play - false nine or wider - but I expected him to be more pivotal this season as the former, given his boss presumably sanctioned his signing.

Ribery I've never been madly impressed with to be honest.

Shame we didnt buy Martinez when Xabi left.

From the current Bayern squad; Muller, Shaqiri, Goetze, Martinez

Agree re Muller.

As for Martinez, didn't he start his career as a more box-to-box type before being shoe horned into a more deep lying role?

I've certainly seen him play in a more advanced position for Bayern at times. He strikes me as someone with a versatile range of qualities, so maybe he could compete both with Gerrard for DM and Allen/Henderson for CM?

That article has nothing whatsoever in it. No quotes, no nothing.

Lazy journos, that's all.

I doubt that anything of it is going to happen.

I'd still like your fellow countryman Alaba though 😉

I'd like him too.

He's one of the best on his position right now.

It's a pity that we have absolutely no chance of getting him. We could do with an excellent left back.

Always liked Muller, is there a more German looking German than him?, he also has that great knack of being a big game player.

And still only twenty one.
Could be the best in the world in coming years.
I hope we get at least one top full back, either left or right, during the summer window.
