Something you wouldn't do in your profession in the same circumstances ? ( by the way £6mill was compensation for all sacked staff )

Of course I would.

I wouldnt go around claiming to love the company and everyone associated with it when I clearly don't give a shit about it though.

If you've held an executive business position you'll be aware that generally, failure ultimately leads to you being responsible. Of course, along the way you'll make changes to your Managers to try to turn things around, and LFC have certainly done that; but if it doesn't work it's you who carries the can.

I think there's ample evidence that the club's executives have not been up to the mark, whereas some of the Managers have brought home trophies often against all the odds. I don't think it's just transfer policy that has eroded the club.

Revenue steadily increased and stabilised despite the team worsening.

The executives did a large part of their job right, the football people didn't.

Ross has an amazing lack of objectivity when it comes to Rafa and therefore his evidence and opinion should be disregarded!

It isnt really silly though is it? If as tony says Rafa loves the club so much he would probably do the job for nothing ( an exaggeration I know), why would he take any compensation at all, having already got a new job lined up.

I like Rafa and will always be grateful to him for his achievements with LFC, but you should never lose sight of the fact that he is a very very shrewd operator.

He has a wife and family, do you really think he's gonna go home and explain to his wife that he's turned millions down on a point of principle?

Try explaining that to her indoors. So yeah, it's silly.

Spoon is one of the simpletons that got taken in by Rafas bullshit.

If you think Rafa would manage the club for free because he loves it so much you are a simpleton too.
Never mind the pay off, do you remember the damage he was willing to cause to get his pay rise?

Liverpool fans seem to love disregarding evidence when it suits, which helps if you want to think Rafa is any good.

And his detractors dont like to disregard any evidence whatsoever, nosiree....the detractors are of course always right in their opinions.

Where has anyone suggested that they think he would do the job for free?

PS I do hope you recognise the irony in my reply to yours. Oh and the dripping sarcasm. Hope that saves you a few keyboard strokes!

Tony said he would do it.

I've given credit to Rafa for luckily winning the Champions League despite picking a team for the final that no sane person would have picked.

Sorry Spion that was me obviously tongue in cheek but there you go, some people wouldn't recognise irony it it bit em in the arse!

Come on Ross - you know as well as everybody that the club was a basketcase when Rafa left he didn't want to leave but was forced out by Purslow - you'll be blaming him for the banking crisis next

He couldn't be forced out.

He got himself a new job, screwed the club ( the club he loves) for a payout and then got promptly sacked when Moratti realised he was a fuckwit

I think Rafa as a person has a right tohis opinions that he can air and his opinions are well thought out by my understanding of the man vis-s-vis his antecedents and he doesn't spew nonsense.Let's all give him credit for the good he has done, though he has had rough times on the job off the past owners and he has made mistakes too on the job, i daresay he is an institution as far as the annals of Liverpool f.c.is concerned, and he should be accorded that status.

Do you know anything about how contracts work?
A manager gets compensated for being forced out of his job/contract.
Unless you're suggesting he handed in his resignation and still received compensation.
There would have been a court case or two if that were the case, but alas it did not, thus he was forced out.
Same with Woy. Same with Kenny.
All compensated. For being forced out.

Where's the credit there?

I see no credit in you saying he was lucking because he picked a side no sane person was. What am I missing?

The easiest way to get rid of a manager is to complete the contract, in the clubs case pay every penny due under the contract.

We didn't pay all of that to Rafa, why not? Because he was ready to go to Inter and had the job in the bag already. And if he had insisted on being paid the full amount of the contract we could have prevented him from taking that job by insisting he lived up to his side of the bargain - being available to work for us which he couldn't be if he took another job.

He wanted out, we wanted him out. Not forced though.

If we were lucky in 2005 then we were unlucky in 2007. And unlucky again (twice) when we went out against Chelsea. Rafa was a fantastic CL manager.

We finished 2nd under Rafa in the PL and bar the odd exception, were excellent in Europe. Compare times under Rafa to what has come after him. And before someone brings up the 'he spent so much' argument; he spent well and also spent poorly. However the finals, quarters and semi-finals brought in allot of the dosh he spent. Unlike other managers who have been given money to spend whilst not being asked to generate allot of it themselves through runs in the CL.

Rafa was good for Liverpool FC, good at a time when we had the two cunts in charge of the club.

He started listening to offers once it was apparent he'd be sacked.
Everything suggested he wanted to stay.
Unless you have evidence to the contrary?
