Purposely fucking things up? Have I missed some sort of joke here?

If not, what the fuck?

I'm puzzled Mark.

Nice edit.

I thought it might prove confusing cos I quoted Berno's post. I was in agreement with your reply anyway, but you can and have gone overboard in the past, but frankly right now, he deserves everything thrown his way (Rafa).

Anyway, back to the original point, it would seem Rafa was possibly right regarding Aqua seeing as he is on the bench again.

Its a weird one. Ive got this weird feeling Aqua and the Keane transfers were choices of the board rather than Rafa's choices. Why else would he be so reluctant to play them? Ive had this thought that Rafa was being stubborn over the situation to make a point (as per usual). It really wouldnt surprise me if Aqua was on a plane back to Roma come June.

Ok, tell me this........

What fucking manager spends 40M on 2 players only to hardly play them?

He lives or dies by his big decisions, and it seems to me like if he were to trust spending that amount of cash on these 2 then he wouldve played them week in week out like some of the other players he has brought in.

You cant say the same about Torres & Mascherano for example.

Its either that or Rafa is really a crazy old twat which I am beginning to believe is the problem.

That's just the epitome of RCDNW right there.

He bought him, he fucked up, get the fuck over it.

I guess Dossena at £7m was Rafa being forced into buying mediocrity because he's so fucking hard done by?

I am not in the Rafa can do no wrong brigade by any stretch of the imagination. I supported him yes and so did we all at some point during his tenure. Last season I really believed we could do it, and it had been a very long time since that has happened, actually it was the only time since I was about 10 years old that I have truly believed we could win the title.

Fuck knows what has happened since the end of last season to the beginning of this season to dramatically turn our fortunes round, but it has. I think its a lot of things all muddled together have created this whole mess. Ownership, Xabi, Sammy Lee, Aquilani, Injuries...........

How can we fall so far from grace in just 1 year, we were smashing United and Real 4-0 / 4-1 a year ago. And for that I can tell you that I am not a believer in Rafa, he has not got the strength of character or the tactical know-how when we really needed him.

A lot can be said about how a manager reacts when the chips are down, it would seem ours has lost his head, probably due to taking things too seriously over the last 5 years. We need someone who can be laid back at times and take it in his stride. Rafa is not this man.

If by some chance we manage 4th, and/or we get the Europa Cup, it's possible. If we get neither, he'll go IMO.

Were I a betting man, my money'd be on him leaving in the summer.

Does anyone think Rafa will be here next season?

I can't see him being sacked. So yes, I see him being here next season.

I'm starting to wonder if Rafa has more than we thought in common with Houllier. It's often said that Houllier was much less effective as our manager once Patrice Bergues left. Pako Ayesteran quit in the summer of 2007.

Looking at it from just the transfer side of it, bearing in mind the transfer of Babel was rumoured to be one of the things they fell out over, there's a notable difference between transfers while Pako was at the club. They weren't all successful by any means, but we made less expensive mistakes.

Hopefully we'll be in a position so that we can sack him, or he'll leave for Juve or Real.

There must be something in his contract about not getting CL qualification.

There will not be any clause in contract, I'm pretty sure about that. We'll have to wait until Inter, real or juve take him off our hands.

Right from the time Rafa guaranteed 4th earlier in the season, I've had the impression that he recognised this was make or break time for him.[/quote]

I was thinking along the same lines.

It would be strange if he didn't get fourth and stuck around. Would anyone believe in him?

I think this combined with the Juve job being available almostt guarantees his departure.

Unless of course we fluke fourth.
