Not available in my country.

The Vatican? 😉

I don't think this is a foregone conclusion. Capello's team selection isn't what I'd hoped for, the US are always good athletes who give everything, and this time they have a cutting edge up front with Dempsey and Donovan (who surprised me with his form for the bitters) which they've lacked before.

I predict a dull, dour game. Akin to Everton v Stoke in the premiership. Everton (England) will sneak it by the odd goal.

My prediction too, though it wont be that dull, cos we've got investment in it.

Robbie Findley will give John Terry some cause for concern.

That's my prediction/ hope

Ever the bitter eh? 😉

My enthusiasm for England in this World Cup has significantly increased since poor Rio hurt his knee and Gerrard took the armband.

Couple that with all of my colleagues at the office stirring things up about today's game. I haven't felt this patriotic for a long time.

I'll drink to that. In my case the stirring's come from Maltese relatives and some of their friends who mostly seem to support Italy, though we do have the occasional fan among them. Some of the relatives are coming over next month and they're gonna pay, in blood, if (which I don't think is at all impossible) we get further in the WC than the Eyeties.

The USA are going to run at England. Hope Gerrard has a cracker and Carra gets some game time. Tough game that could go either way. Let's see how Rooney holds up if he gets any special attention!

Definitely a tough start that could go either way, hopefully we hit the ground running and Rooney has his head screwed on.

Some nice candid realistic expectations here, as one expects from SCM.

The rest of the country meanwhile, expect us to romp home 6-0 winners & will be disappointed if we don't.

The way we have been playing, I expect a tight boring game. However, if we turn it kn and won by a handful, that would not surprise me.

I expect a defensive set up with men behind the ball from the USA. If we can sneak an early one, then I suppose we could go on and get a few. But I don't expect it, and if the first two games are anything to go by then chances will be at a premium.

Addendum to my last post. In te barbers & the daily star says let's spank the yanks. Sums it up.

Yeah the first game is always cagey, I don't think it'll be a romp by any stretch, the winners always start slowly anyway lol.

I'll take any win that's going. I don't expect a romp but, if a romp's there for the taking on the night, I say bring it on. Capello would see to it that we didn't get above ourselves afterwards.

hahaha, Former Manchester United defender Gary Pallister feels Gary Neville would still be England's first choice right-back ahead of Liverpool's Glen Johnson, had he played more football over the past season.

There now, Gary, I'll just tuck your blanket in for you and you can have a nice cup of cocoa later.

I can imagine him sitting decked out in his England kit, boots and all on watching the game at home tonight.
