Mario is supposed to be on compassionate leave despite him turning up for training. Borini is missing also.

I will miss Aspas. These sort of games were his bread and butter.

Interesting inclusions / omissions:

GK: Fulton over Vigouroux - surprised; thought Vigouroux with his newly-signed contract would be ahead of Fulton; it's not as clear now

Defenders: No Enrique - guess the coaching staff didn't want too many selfies there. Kinda' surprised with the Maguire pick over Randall and McLaughlin. Cleary - hmm, didn't see that coming.

CM: Chirivella! Surprised with the Rossiter selection - as in, I didn't know his broken ankle had healed, since he never appeared in the training pics. No Brannagan - surprised with this one.

AM / WF: Ojo, Kent, Wilson - yeah! Would've been good if Canos had gotten a chance too, but 3 out of 4 isn't bad. And good to see Tex back and given a go.

CF: Lambert's in, but Yesil isn't - guess those rumours of him going on loan or being sold have some legs? No Sinclair as well - so maybe that cryptic tweet was him showing his disappointment about missing out. Hopefully that's all there is to it. Also, would've loved to see Dunn get a chance, but it looks like his pro career rests elsewhere.

No Ilori, Can, Coutinho, Firmino, but that was expected given their involvement in the summer tournaments.

I like that squad. Can't wait to watch Kent, Ojo, Wilson, Chirivella, Rossiter, Ings, Origi and Gomez.

Wouldn't it be a dream if Rossiter emerged at the base of a 3 man midfield and young scouse blood made it all click again.

That would've been odd; probably could still fly but skip a few sessions, or join the trip a few days later? I'd think maybe a loan is lined up. Or maybe like Sinclair and Smith, we want him to sign a new contract (think his is expiring/has expired?) to be sure he's committed to us before we spend further time/effort on him.
