Pre match thread: Liverpool v Hull

Hope klopp doesn't get too clever with the line up / Tactics

Keep it simple and we should win with ease. Hull are shit but will be up for this one especially with phelean in charge. Big test.

Hull currently being taking into ET at Stoke...good news....they're chasing the game wasting a lot of energy.

We're the fresher team having played 24 hours prior, we should be far too much for them

They scored about 8 seconds after you posted that.
Jinxy smeg.

If Firmino is fit, then he should play ahead of Sturridge. He's in much better form.

Yeah, it's a really hard one to leave Sturridge out but I think you're right. Maybe keep him on the bench for an hour whilst Coutinho, Firmino and Mane knacker Hull out for him to come on to. Hull are 17th in Hansern's list of distance run so hopefully that means they're not as fit and will tire tracking our movement.

Tough choices for Klopp.

Firmino and Coutinho did really well yesterday.

Who gets left out? I'm thinking Sturridge.

------------------Mignolet

Clyne-----Lovren-----Matip------Milner

------Lallana----Hendo----Wijnaldum

-----Mané------Firmino----Coutinho

Hmmm, that team looks like Klopp's go-to eleven. I think that Coutinho might make room for Studge, but this team is very likely the one.

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has not trained this week as he has had a few "issues" since Friday's win at Chelsea but will do so today, according to Jurgen Klopp:
"Sturridge should train today. Lallana and Gini [Wijnaldum] will be ready. Joe Gomez is doing well but he's not team training yet."

Doubt if Danny will start against Hull and may not even make the bench.

So our 2 magnificent Brazilians must fight head to head for a place in the team? I would drop Wijnaldum and play them both...

Dropping Gino is not going to happen. He's the glue in that midfield already. I'm readying myself for years of having to defend his contribution to people who don't understand football, (I don't mean you!) much as many of us had to do when Ronnie Whelan was moved central.

Glue is a very apt description, his contribution has been fairly muted, but he's played a big part in our success the last month, happy with him so far, and can only see him getting better.

I remember that thread!

"We Need To Talk About Ronnie Whelan - what does he actually do?"

Haha. Good point. I will however not shut up and listen.... (I was old enough to enjoy Whelan scoring stunners from several positions!!) However this is more a luxury problem. We have played a Nice, tidy but still moveable 4-3-3. Which Hull will expect. However I think for this game we should try to fit in all creativity up front which means Firm-Couth and Mane behind Sturridge. That leave only two of the hard working Three in CM. and this is probably a game that suits Gino... However Lallana has made himself undroppable and Hendo will not be dropped. However, we can allways play him left back!! 🙂

Why change a winning set up though? If Sturridge isnt fit then it will be Firmino upfront.

If we dont we will eventually loose..? And then what? We actually already changed it (three times in a row) and still won.

Firmino is in hot shit form and even a High flying Liverpool aint good enough to leave him out. We need to open this defence and he will play a part in that.

Anyone got any info on Hull, I haven't watched them this season, how do they set up? They have had a couple of good results are they all about being very compact without the ball then hitting the oppo on the break or do they look for free kicks, corners, long throws to score?

Yeah, we will always change players in starting positions. I was more commenting on people wanting Coutinho etc to drop in to the midfield 3.
I dont think that would be a good move.

We had a Dutch glue in our squad a few years ago. He was average though

We have to win this.

Rolling on from Derby, I also have a soft spot for the Tigers. Me old fella played in nets for 'Ull in the 60's. Here he is losing 3-1 to Chelsea in the FA Cup Quarters .

He's the keeper on the ground near the end (1:44).
Wow, I didn't know. Great having a father playing with the big boys. Thought I heard Venables being mentioned in the video.
Sad to read that he isn't with you any more. My condolences.
