we need to invest on a world class striker to help suarez .we are asking to much from him playing with inexperienced strike partners.

Have to say I'm too fed up and annoyed to even talk about football.

Absolutely nothing is going our way it doesn't look like changing.

We played well against one of the big clubs (funny how players always seem to do so) but still struggle against the lower teams, our defence was rubbish before we lost Agger and our criminally under stocked front line now has one recognised striker (who isn't an out and out striker and needs about 30 chances to score one goal). We're in the shit.

So I take it you didn't watch the match then. 🙄

As much as it sucks for Halsey to have been so horrendous today, I can't help but thinking that we were once again our own worst enemies today.

45 minutes of dominance in the first half, which resulted in fuck all. There's just not enough penetration or fluidity in the final third. Something needs to be changed obviously, but given our lack of options in personnel, I suspect it's going to be a very tough road until January.

That said, Ross has been absolutely right. We need to look at this season from a completely different perspective, and realise this is primarily going to be an exercise in building a team from scratch.

A few wins on the way would be nice though. 🙁

Can't disagree with any of that but we shouldn't assume we will sign a goalscorer in January though.

I don't know, I do think we were a bit luckless. The amount of times the ball was saved or came back into an area occupied by a Utd rather thean liverpool player was crazy. And for a change we actually always had people in there. I think the gods really decided to fuck us over today.

Good post dmishra. Like Ross said its a rebuilding process and people forget how shite we've been. In 2012 we've won 5 games out of 23 and picked up 20 points. Thats relegation form.

It obviously isnt going to happen over night and it will be a fair few bad results on the way. But we're much more positive in the way we play and we have some very interesting youngsters coming through.

I'm a bit nervous about us not picking up points but hopefully that will change in the coming weeks. As long as we're not getting 3 points then a fear of a tough tough season will Be creeping in.

We'll sign a striker and a forward/winger in january. Thats a given.

Or you're in denial

Or I wasn't really expecting a massive improvement on what Kenny was doing, bar playing style. And I see that we're in a good position to be getting very good in the next few months, and with the right purchases, the next few years.

Sorry Wizzy but being in a position to be potentially good in the future isn't filling me with any confidence. We're currently in a position to be really fucking bad at the moment.

We're not really fucking bad though ... are we? We've had a really difficult 5 game stretch where most of us would have been happy with 5-6 points. Building a team takes more than 5 games - forget this season result wise (Ignore this if we get relegated! 😛)

Of course it takes time to build a team mate but it's what happens between now and then that concerns me. We weren't really fucking bad last season either. We weren't really that good either at times. Yeh, we'd be happy with 5-6 points from those games whilst rebuilding but we have two points. Two. Fucking. Points. We have few goalscoring options, a very thin squad and are conceding goals far too easily. I'm seriously worried about our team at the moment and I'm never really that concerned, ever.

Hey, we are Liverpool which means we get a relegation get out of jail for free card.

Well ... I hope I don't get reasons to join you, but as I said, I understand your stance when you explain it like that. I still think we'll be ok.

I really appreciate Rosco's point about us rebuilding with a good young side, it'll take time and patience. I bet, despite the short term dismissive stance, our rivals still have one eye on us emerging in the next year or so.
