When the tension and emotion of the game is settled, I actually enjoyed watching the game, and we played well without the reward.

As I expected we will not win any trophy nor be challenging for any positions this year and may even be in the relegation scrap, just looking forward to more games by youngsters like Suso, Sterling, Shelvey and perhaps Samed Yesil, Sahin, Wisdom (now that Agger and Kelly are most probably injured), Pachecho (sp?), Ngoo, etc.

We desperatly need some wins on the board though. Ugly scrappy lucky. Any 3 pointer is welcome.

Honestly thought halsey wasn't bad today. Made a few errors but not loads. It's easy to blame him, but we didn't score the goal at the end of the day.

Obviously in the ground I can't see it all, but thought the red card looked fair (although I am curious about Evans attempt)

P. S United fans are chanting Hillsborough songs when they were kept back

Cunts.

It doesn't really matter if it's only ''a few errors" if they're the biggest decisions of the game

True enough, but they didn't look too wrong in the ground
To be fair I can see why he sent of Jonjo even if it was harsh.
But he yellow carded Van Persie for a worse challenge and gave Valencia a penalty for a challenge no worse than the one Suarez got nothing for in the first half.
Major errors with major implications for the game's result in all likelihood.

Gary Neville has it spot on - Suarez got caught but why the theatrical throw of the head?
It doesn't do him or us any favours whatsoever when it comes to getting decisions going our way?
Wish he'd cut it out.
You think he'd have got it if he didnt throw his head. Would he fuck? Why is the ref even looking at his head anyway. Look at his feet ffs! Neville is a great pundit but thats just a load of bollox.

Some more very encouraging signs again today. The first five games were always gonna be tough. That one was never a must win. The next one or two are.

maybe not for blame and i agree i dont dislike halsey but qt the same token he sent one of our players off, straight red on a tackle which was 50 50 and that he won in a slightly better style than their fella lost then he gave them a pen for a dive which would have had the press fulminating had Suarez have done it. Shockingly unlucky today IMHO.

Suarez exaggerated it though, of course it's still penalty no doubt about that but generally, Suarez is needlessly theatrical and OTT which in the eyes of the officials makes them think he's dived.

Same for every player, if you seem them rolling around the floor as if they've been shot you immediately think there's fuck all wrong with them,

Halsey had an horrendous game and deserves punishing by the PL for that performance (not that it will help us get back the 3 points we deserved from the game). He got virtually ever major decision wrong. Anyone who thinks he was 'OK' needs to watch the re-run and the slo-mos from this match !

Soon enough points will be needed more than good performances.
There were plenty of good performances in the early part of last season and we all believed that it was only a matter of time before the results followed.
Unless we get some points on the board really soon then we run the risk of the players losing the faith and belief.

Norwich (A)
Stoke (H)
Reading (H)

Couldn't agree more . We have a new manager , a thin enough squad and had a tough fixture list to start with so people are remaining positive but lets be honest , if we don't get some decent results from our next 3 fixtures (above) before everton then we're in a bit of trouble . We all saw what happened last year when we didn't get the results some of our early season play deserved . The heads dropped and the good play but bad results turned into terrible play with bad results , infact so bad it was relegation form .

And i won't lie , i think it's madness just to purely write this season off as much as some seem happy to do . Results do matter , there has to be signs of progress on that front . Using the "we've got a new manager and philosophy " line can only be used for so long, i mean let's be honest it's not rocket science and many of these players have played this way before , they should pick it up quickly enough .

Rodgers says if Shelvey is off then Evans should go aswell.

Anyone but Suarez would have got a penalty there.

Gary the referee must give his decision on the tackle, not on the fact that he throws his head back. Valentia's fall was just as theatrical if not more so.

Even Utd fans saying Halsey was in favour of them. Then you know its been really bad.

I agree 100%, he got caught and it should have been a pen. All i'm saying is he doesn't himself any favours when he makes the most of it.

christ , didn't realise that QPR and Reading only need draws from their games in hand to put us bottom on goal difference ! Ah well , the only way is up as they say ! .

The very good performance is overshadowed by a horrendous ref. Surprise surprise the last time reffed this game they won aswell.

FA Cup 4th Round, Saturday 28th January 2012, Anfield, 12:45pm

Liverpool v Manchester United

Referee: Mark Halsey H-T: 1-1 Att: 43,952

Match Report
Dirk Kuyt came off the bench to strike a dramatic late winner as Liverpool beat Manchester United 2-1 in the FA Cup fourth round at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds took the lead after 21 minutes when Daniel Agger bulleted a header into the back of the net from a Steven Gerrard in-swinging corner.
But United equalised with six minutes of the first half remaining via Ji-Sung Park's powerful low volley from Rafael da Silva's centre.
Both sides pushed for a winner in the second period, but it was Liverpool who prevailed when Kuyt latched onto Andy Carroll's flick and drilled home at the Kop end.
Following Wednesday night's pulsating Carling Cup semi-final success over United's neighbours City, Kenny Dalglish made four changes to his line-up.
Jamie Carragher came into the starting XI on his 34th birthday to operate in a holding midfield role. Carroll, Maxi Rodriguez and Martin Kelly were also restored in place of Charlie Adam, Glen Johnson, Dirk Kuyt and Craig Bellamy.
With one Wembley appearance now secured, the game kicked-off with Liverpool aiming to take a step towards another cup final in what was the pick of the FA Cup fourth round ties.
Four minutes were on the clock when Maxi fired the first effort of the contest with his stinging drive from the edge of the area palmed around the post by David de Gea at full stretch. At the other end, Ryan Giggs's volley from Park's knockdown was easily gathered by Pepe Reina.
The game had begun in cagey fashion as both teams set about attempting to gain control of the contest, but on 18 minutes Antonio Valencia saw an effort cannon off the base of the upright after the United winger had carried the ball to the edge of the area.
However, it was Liverpool who made the breakthrough on 21 minutes courtesy of an Agger header.
The Dane rose highest amongst a crowded area to meet Gerrard's corner and divert the ball into the back of the net his forehead, with United 'keeper De Gea caught out of position.
It was Agger's first competitive goal since netting against Benfica in April 2010.
With their tails up, Gerrard then collected Carroll's layoff and surged goalwards before striking over the bar soon after.
But United drew level six minutes before half-time when Rafael held off the challenge of Jose Enrique and crossed from the right byline to allow Park to hook an effort into the bottom corner and ensure the teams headed back down the tunnel on level terms.
The opening stages of the second half continued in a similar manner to the first, with clear chances remaining hard to come by for both sides.
Liverpool appealed for a penalty 11 minutes after the re-start, claiming Chris Smalling's attempt to cut out Enrique's pass to Carroll had struck the hand of the United defender, but referee Mark Halsey waved play on.
The Reds then had Martin Skrtel to thank for preventing the visitors from going ahead when Danny Welbeck knocked the ball around the onrushing Reina on the edge of the box, but the defender was on hand to avert the danger.
Dalglish opted to make a double change just after the hour, with Kuyt and Adam replacing Maxi and Carragher.
With play now beginning to switch from end to end, Gerrard forced as save out of De Gea with a curling free-kick while Michael Carrick struck off target for United. It proved to be the skipper's last act as he made way for Bellamy soon after.
The final 10 minutes saw Liverpool press for a winner and it duly arrived on 88 minutes when Carroll's flick from a long ball sent Kuyt scampering into the box, and the Dutchman made no mistake as he dispatched a volley beyond De Gea to send the Reds into the fifth round.

We played well against one of the big clubs (funny how players always seem to do so) but still struggle against the lower teams, our defence was rubbish before we lost Agger and our criminally under stocked front line now has one recognised striker (who isn't an out and out striker and needs about 30 chances to score one goal). We're in the shit.
