Post Match Roma Mutterings

If you watch the picture, VVD, Trent and Robbo are quit close to each other. Lovren is doing his own thing.
No excuse, he stays with the others its offside. Poor defending, poor decision making and just a brainless moment.
Virgil is bombing forward

Lovren is keeping an eye on dzeko.

I don't think his positioning is as bad as being made out. It's the misjudgement of the header that's the most galling.

This isn't me advocating him staying btw. He's just getting a lot of flack which is a little much imo

Nah, he’s dropping deep when the rest of the defence is pushing up.
Thats poor and very uneccessary to say the least.

Everyones a world class tactician when we concede ay.

The manager who just beasted Roma 5-2 says it was an error between Lovren and Trent but it happens and its not a big deal.

But the agenda on here wont allow that.
FUCK LOVREN

Are we not querying why van Dijk is so far forward, if we're focusing just how far behind lovren is?

Trent and robbo seem to be sloghtly holding where the line should be, Virgil goes walkies and lovren is following dzeko

Poor positioning but he had an excuse in wanting to mark dzeko, who is a brilliant player.

He shouldn't have tried to intercept, rather go to the man.

That's my criticism
Robertson is not more than 2m deeper than VvD, TAA is obviously tracking Dzeko at that point, Lovren is looking out into space and doesn't look like he even knows where Dzeko is (how can he when he's watching the ball and not the player) and he is far deeper than he needs to be. There's only one player that is showing 'poor positioning'. If he hadn't then Dzeko wouldn't have had an opportunity because Niangolang wouldn't have played that pass. It all stems from Lovren being alienated from his defensive line.

And that's not going looking for a stick to beat him with. It's an obvious and accurate observation. And God knows I've defended Lovren when being undeservedly attacked on here but in this case he deserves the stick.

Exactly.

Lovren is shite. He can have good games, obviously, but he's too much of a liability. He's ALWAYS got a fuck up in him. We need better in the summer.

I was kinda disappointed and worried that we conceded two goals yesterday as I am a negative person by nature. Today morning I woke up and convinced myself that Roma had scored 2 goals first and then we responded by scoring 5. Feeling a lot better. Ignorance is definitely bliss!!!!

I would console yourself with the idea that we're going to muller them at the Stadio Olympico next week too. They're no Man City, and essentially we're going there with the lead we had over them. It's an amazing advantage, and one I expect us to build upon over there.

Not only was Ginsoak in one of the posh boxes in the Main Stand last night, he's been there for the last four games in the CL we've played. Maybe he just can't stand watching the mancs these days.
Heard that earlier. I wonder who is inviting him?

He's clearly desperate to watch some good football & we're the closest club to Salford that play it.

Buriram United have got an ace-sounding front three:

"Jaja Diogo....controls the high ball beautifully, turns and lays it wide to the onrushing Supachok....Supachok looks up and chips a lovely ball into the near post......Sarachat's in there! What a finish! GOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLL! SARAAAAAACHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!"

Ahem,
Supachok IS Sarachat, you total Raheem.

their names are Jaja; Diogo; and Supachok Sarachat

Any idea what happens if one of the lads already on a yellow from last night's game pick up another yellow in Rome.
Will they miss the final assuming we get through.

Call me cynical, but Linekar knows it's a much bigger final for BT sport if we're in it.

Have you noticed his hands? I'm surprised they've not attracted more coverage. I guess a producer a few years ago said, 'Gary, love, darling, wonderful stuff, but you're very STILL, we need more ANIMATION - can you move your hands a little...?' And he's done so, but it's incredibly mannered, in that he doesn't 'express' with his hands, he just keeps thinking, 'Move your hands, move your hands' and it looks like he's got wooden puppet hands up his sleeves. The fingers don't move, the wrists don't move, he just keeps waving his hands around like they've been sculpted out of wood. Has no one else noticed this??? I find it hypnotic, and it keeps reminding me of Kenny Everett*:

* For teenagers: Kenny Everett was a great Liverpudlian who was one of the most innovative DJs on the radio before you were born.
