Havent seen it mentioned yet but Gerrard did seem to struggle a bit with that heel injury.
Looked to be in agony at times and gritted his teeth to get going again.

He'd probably play with 2 broken legs these last 3 games but lets hope he doesnt suffer to much the rest of the season.

He always looks like he struggles to control the ball under pressure and keep it moving quickly. It's the same thing with Andy Carroll and how people used to say he was decent on he ball because he rarely misplaced a pass, whereas anyone with a bit of common sense could see he was awkward and vulnerable to close pressing.

What those passing stats don't show is his decision making or how slow he is. I don't know how many times he passed the ball to Flanagan when he was in an awkward position, which led to us inviting pressure on our back line.

His decision making is what gives him a 94,5 % passing acc.
Flanno did the same to him. They need to work on that.

He isnt slow either. I'll wager he could keep up with Soldado.....

I think the middle ground in this debate is this: Sakho needs to improve.

He's not shit, but then he isn't quite this beastly defensive monster that people have built him up to be (even jokingly) either. There is truth to what people are saying on both sides.

Personally I've been a little underwhelmed by him. I know there are mitigating circumstances - new team, new league, injuries, being in and out of the side here and at PSG - so perhaps it's a little unfair to feel that way, but there it is.

Hopefully he has a good World Cup (though not too good) and comes back next season ready to kick on and establish himself properly.

That's pretty much where I am as well, but I don't think we have too much of a choice but to persist with him (and Ilori). We've had issues at CB for a while, and we threw 25 million at that problem last summer. It's up to us to make the most of it, because it'd really wasteful to throw money at the same position again this summer. Same with Mignolet.

Though I have to say that there are times where I wished we'd used the money better. I just hope that Rodgers can coach them the same way he's coached Henderson and Sterling.

I think sakho will be boss for us. Don't know why. Just a feeling.

And if he doesn't, it's annoying, but we have illori waiting in the wings.

I should say that I don't hate Sakho as a player and nor have I written him off. I just don't rate him from what I've seen so far, and seriously doubt whether he'll be the answer long term. Same for Mignolet.

Sakho was poor. Big decision at CB needed by Rodgers for Chelsea.

Allen started very brightly but faded as the game went on. Showed enough to merit another start.

Lucas, Flanigan, Coutinho all have had better days.

Both Skrtel and Sterling was pivotal to that victory.

As others have said, I thought Lucas was piss poor today, completely off the pace.

Raheem was a joy - did he do a muslim prayer for the 2nd goal?

Both fullbacks were very poor.

But we won! Roll on chelsea!

You can hardly blame them for giving thanks for all their natural talent. And it's also very Christian to forgive him for their lack of brain, too, so it's all good.

Flanigan played well i have no idea what u are talking about.

Don't comment often but just to add my 2 cents:
  • Sakho looks like he has a lot of potential, however he doesn't look that comfortable on the ball (whether that's just nerves or not being played in a while I'm not sure). Today he seemed to hinder our style of play, he didn't really look like he would run with the ball and was a bit panicky when pressured by Norwich - which kinda left him always passing backwards/sideways. For me this is where Agger is a much better option (for the moment at least) yes he may have the odd defensive issue however he's comfortable passing the ball as well as dribbling it up the pitch, his runs sometimes give us another outlet from the back which the other team doesn't expect. If it was me, I think we'd see the best by loaning Sakho out for a season (ala Borini) however whether we have the ability to do that next season is another mattter.
  • Lucas not a good game but to be expected in a way, this is his first full game in quite a while - most of us know what its like coming back in to a team after being out for a while it can take a few games to get everything back into gear - let alone getting yourself back to 100% against Premiership opposition!
  • Sterling was amazing, for me he just filled the gap that could have been left by Sturridge - we've definitely had it great this season when our Strikers have been injured and suspended with other players just fill the role - where previously we might have struggled.

It definitely feels like when the pressure's on, Skrtel tries to avoid getting the ball, and Johnson doesn't really help out either. That usually puts undue pressure on Sakho/Flanagan side. It felt down the stretch that every time we tried playing our way out, Sakho was the one who had to thread the needle to break us out.

Lucas looked a bit lost with Gerrard sitting deep. You could almost see him thinking 'he's playing in my position so I'm not sure what to do'.

Reality is he's never getting that position back.

Do you still think Sakho is as good on the ball as Agger? (As you previously claimed)

Added a little something for my agenda.

Nervy game again. Big test next week. we have to pray City slip up once more, cause we are getting closer to that loss for every game now.
