Post match disappointment and anger in here

I wonder how it would have gone down if we played deeper, or invited them on a bit and countered? Because we were playing so high up (and the fullbacks offered nothing), there didn't seem to much space to get into behind the two banks of 4 and 5 men. Chelski are more than comfortable defending, they have good defenders and are managed by a defence minded coach. Surely that was playing into their hands a bit? Pressing them that high up the patch and packing those 9 players in?
Saying that, I don't know, maybe they'd have torn us a new arsehole if we'd have invited pressure on.

I'm happy if Pellegrini wins it, he's a classy manager and guy, I'll be gutted, destroyed, but this season has been massive regardless, and we'll be even stronger next season.

Who gets the carling cup place?

Sixth
The only doubt is where the FA Cup place goes
If Arsenal win and finish forth then Hull go into the Europa League.
If Arsenal win but finish fifth then the team in seventh go into the Europa league/
Obviously Hull go into it if they win the FA cup

From the live PFA awards coverage by the Guardian,
'If there were an award for "most hapless and horrible mistake that cost your team the title" I guess Terry's own goal against Palace would edge it ahead of Kompany's slice against Liverpool... 'writes David Peacock. 'Although Gerrard made a late bid for, er, glory today.'

What bitter irony, our captain has 'repaid' the gifts given to us by the other captains. It's a footy soap opera script.

Oh the joy! 🙂

Suarez has arrived!

... but he's only gone and walked into the room in the middle of Bridges's set! It's bad enough to arrive late at a comedy club when you are an anonymous punter, nevermind being probably the most controversial footballer arriving at the event he's supposed to win.
"Are you confident Luis??", Bridges asks. He's let him off there.

We're comfortable attacking, we have good if not the best attackers and are managed by an attack minded coach. Your point?

Carling cup place does not go to the runners up.

6th now qualifies for Europa League.

Ithankyou
Regardless.
When Everton play City Spurs will be level on points with them and United 6 points behind with a game in hand. If Everton lose to City and United win their remaining games Everton will drop to 7th.
They need to play to win.
The cant afford to relax.

Everton 69 played 36
Spurs 66 played 36
United 60 played 35

United and Spurs win Saturday

Everton 69
Spurs 69
United 63

Everton lose to city
Everton 69
Spurs 69
United 63 game in hand

United win game in hand at home

Everton 69

Everton will need to win away on the last day to stay top 6
Spurs and United have really easy games now.
I think Everton will still be out to win vs Citeh

Major quiffing but this was just another in a long list of defensive errors that have cost us points this season, it has come at a significant point but others have also meant we weren't able to already be out of sight. Notables:

Mignolet flappy hands vs City
Toure vs West Brom

Feel bad for Stevie and fucking hate to lose to a silly mistake like that. All we can do is win our last 2 and just pray for city to drop a point somewhere.

Well, I'd rather pray to win 0-10 and then 10-0.

Utd are 9 behind Everton, with 3 games to play. So Everton need a point to guarantee Europa League football.

Mourinho has shut out better attacking sides than us over the course of his career so there is no shame in what happened out there today.

The manner in which it happened is quite hard to take though. We seem to have a habit of gifting goals to our rivals - how many times have we done it against City over the last couple years for example. Maddening.

It feels like the title is gone now. I know there is still a chance and all that but that's how it feels. This season can be classed as a success no matter what happens but it will feel fairly gutting if we miss out right at the end.

Poop.

Yeah in two games. And you think they wont be scrapping against City?
The important thing is United winning before they play.
If United fuck it up then its all fucked.
United need to win next Saturday and then Everton will have to give it their all.

Incidentally I think they would anyway. I dont think they would take it easy.

Tell me about it. 6 hours since the result and I'm still sitting around moping and wasting my time on SCM. Any tips on how to deal with this shit anyone?
I've learnt how to flip a coin between my fingers today. The nervous energy got to me and a skill has been learnt. check it. I'm officially a bit weird but it's a life skill everyone should know. I bet if I was a younger unmarried guy I could pull a million hot chiquitas with this skill. 😗

That and making origami flowers in bars of course but everyone knows that old trick right?

Stop reading and commenting about it on an LFC website would probably help?,

On Everton V City:

- Martinez seems professional as they come and will badly want to finish as high as possible, they also seem to raise their game against bigger opponents
- Everton's team isn't primarily composed of Scousers, which may negate any "can't be arsed for Liverpool" effect that much
- Man City have historically struggled at Goodison Park:
'12-'13 - Everton 2-0 City
'11-'12 - Everton 1-0 City
'10-'11 - Everton 2-1 City
'09-'10 - Everton 2-0 City
- As mentioned, Everton could face not even qualifying for the UEFA Cup if they lose this and don't get a result against Hull away in their final game
- Last time Liverpool needed Everton to come through for them was at Elland Road when we hoped for a miracle result against Leeds United in the race for the champions league placings (2000?)..Everton grabbed a point.
