Ok so we lost at home to the PL leaders. They were the better team but can we take some positives?

The Good

Can - he was good. Sterling looked to be something back to his imperious self. Skittles looked ok as well.

The Bad

Hendo and Gerrard were both poor. That might have been a reflection on the how good the Chavs midfield were though. Glenjo put in a few blocks and defended well but when you play as narrow as we did he needs to produce some more attacking intent imo.

The Ugly

Lovren - I wonder if BR is thinking 'whoops! I might have screwed up signing this useless twat'. That's what I would be thinking anyway.

I thought we played okay for much of the match. I have to say, IMHO, Sterling still looks shattered, as much mentally as physically. He needs a mini vacation. Can was a very bright spot - he still looks unfit to me but that was a massive improvement on what he's been before.

Negatively, Coutinho frequently being beyond Balotelli - why??? - and trying to be a right back - he cocked most things up. A bizarre performance. He worked hard but in the wrong areas.

I get what you mean GK about Coutinho and his movement but along with Can he was our best player imo. At least he caused them some problems.

We looked bereft of confidence which is hardly surprising. However, I think we look naive. We had no idea how to beat Chelsea today or even get out of our own half for a lot of it.

Quite why Rodgers think Balotelli on his own is still an option is bloody ludicrous. The guy offers nothing. He's never in the right position or makes decent runs.

Also, as an aside, I can't believe how slow Lambert is.

Meh, I'm not sure why people care that much anymore. We should have got a draw - but Chelsea always seem to get their 'breaks' with penalty shouts against us ... Oh well, I'm not fussed. Rodgers out, Rafa in so at least MOdo will be happy.

Ming - 6 - I don't blame him for falling over the line, he could hardly gift it to the two blue shirts in front of him.
Johnson - 6.5
Skrtel - 6.5
Lovren - 5 - stop trying to be bleeding clever arse !
Moreno - 6.5
Gerrard - 6.5
Can - 7 - once he gets his fitness levels up he should be a fixture in MF.
Henderson - 4 - he was fucking shite all match. Giving away possession left right and centre.
Coutinho - 7.5 - I'd never have taken him off. He was by far our most creative player. Can't blame him too much for letting Azpilecueto get past him either - at least he got back, where was our defence ?
Sterling - 6.5
Balotelli - 5 - I was so pissed off listening to that crap from Lawrenson saying he wasn't getting the service - he was offside 4-5 times FFS. Does he never learn ?!

Allen - 6.5
Borini - 6
Lambert - 5

Rodgers - 4 - why take off the two players who are playing the best in the whole team (Can & Coutinho) ? Why ?! Give them another 10 mins at least - they didn't look fucked to me. Hendo and Balo should have been hooked for Allen and Lallana.

Oh I'd be delighted if Rafa took over.

Btw, seeing a lot dissent towards Rodgers on twitter. A few rodgersout#

Still can't understand that he left Lucas out.
It is so fucking obvious to pretty much everyone that our midfield is currently dysfunctional, but every time Lucas plays in the DM role our midfield looks organized, why can't Brendan see this?

BITE THE FUCKING BULLET FFS!

Can someone explain to me WTF our defence were doing for their 1st goal ? They rushed out like a herd of fucking elephants. Look at where Skrtel & Lovren are FFS.

It's not dissent, it's just people like you who want us to get a manager who couldn't even get a team with the most financial backing in Italy - bar Juve - into the CL this year ...

I thought we started very well and deserved the first goal. The next goal was always going to be critical though...if we'd been able to hold the lead for 15-20 minutes I honestly think we would have grown in confidence and got a second. Conceding so soon after scoring you could almost see the confidence that was starting to build just drain out of the players.

On the bright side, Mignolet was very sharp and looked a little more authoritative in commanding the box. Another typical Moreno game...great going forward, some decent interceptions but still occasionally wanting too long on the ball. Johnson's distribution was woeful but it was one of his better defensive displays. Skrtel was solid and Lovren was too until they scored and then he seemed to revert to his decent type. Gerrard was poor again and Henderson non-existent. Can started superbly...that lad has great technical ability but he again started to flag very early and looked knackered by the time he was taken off. Shoot me but I still think he looks like a natural centre half.

I couldn't understand taking Coutinho off as he and Sterling looked a threat throughout the game. Balotelli showed some lovely skills but again his lazy arse attitude got on my tits.

I don't think we're far away...keep the faith.

Just looked up dissent in the dictionary:

dissent

[dih-sent]

verb (used without object)

1. to want, Spanish football manager, Rafael Benitez to take over Liverpool after current manager Brendan Rodgers is sacked, despite Benitez not managing to take another team to a European club competition called the Champions League.
