Post Game Thread - Stoke (A)

I'm loving the spirit and camaraderie we're showing. The celebrations after the last goal are a great example - Sturridge pointing at Suarez and Suarez in turn acknowledging Sterling's contribution in creating it.

We're going to win the title this season. It would be nice if that spirit of supporting each other extended to SCM though. We just dicked Stoke at their ground and once again the match thread here is an embarrassment.

Stop the whinging, over-the-top criticism, and second guessing and just enjoy the ride for the rest of the season you cunts.

I don't mind people whining, primarily because it shows that they care and that there are obvious areas for improvement.

I'd be more annoyed if people were apathetic.

There's a good feeling about us this season and everyone on here knows it. Sad part is we CANT enjoy it because of what we've been like in recent years.

We like to self destruct

The whining is excitement tinged with fear. People KNOW we're a good side, but little niggles are fucking up our flow.

The whining is a cry for the niggles to be resolved.

Oh, I get it.

Not cunts, just pussies.
EXACTLY!

I'm a massive weeping Pussy this season.

It's rare we have a season where you feel like you can win going in to every game. Where a defeat isn't half expected but a crushing blow.

I'm kinda numbed to awful defeats by shit teams once a season or so thanks to Rafa Kenny and Hodgson. I love the fact we're scoring so many sexy goals. Its great

I feel the same, it's as if every time we take the lead in the game it's just a countdown until the other team equalises.

This season is doing its best to rekindle my passion for the game.

We're not shit. World Cup.

I'm buzzing

I don't really get that attitude. Why is it whining?

I think all the positives have received fair attention today: Suarez, Sterling and Sturridge. The not so good parts are always going to dominate because there will invariably be more to say.

What's the alternative? Everyone coming on to post "We're awesome. Yay!" and signing out?

Whatever happens we are one hell of an entertaining team that plays some sublime stuff more often than not, love seeing Liverpool play like this and just going for it.

2004 - 52 goals, 41 conceded
2005 - 57, 25
2006 - 57, 27
2007 - 67, 28
2008 - 77, 27
2009 - 61, 35
2010 - 59, 44
2011 - 47, 40
2012 - 71, 43
2013(ongoing) - 51, 26

I don't remember feeling this way during Rafa's best day. We could take the lead and close shop and not worry about conceding.
As the list above shows, we seem to concede more since Rafa left, but we're also scoring more.
Come to think of it, our main problem during Rafa's time was breaking down defences.

Suarez wins goal of the month. First goal vs Norwich

Suarez is also the runner up, his third goal against Norwich.

Unfortunately, trying to find a role in midfield for the captain will likely cost us any chance we have of bringing home the Title.

I thought Gerrard was great today.
It looked to me like this was Mr Rodgers first attempt at playing an inverted triangle with just Gerrard deep and Henderson and Lucas advanced. Obviously Henderson has played advanced all season but for Lucas it looked much tougher to adapt.
I thought first half he tried hard to get forward and broke into the box but second half looked lost.
I like it as an idea as Lucas will still try to break up play and win the ball back further up the pitch and I think that position really suits Gerrard. Today he worked his socks off, broke up play, built attacks, tracked runners. I thought he was brilliant.
Allen will be better suited to the Lucas position long term but I really liked the idea.

Are we happy win a difficult win?
Oh yes I am.
Oh yes.
Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

Stokes players were all like giants against grasshoppers like Sterling and Countinho. But we still conquered.

Yessssssssssssssssssssss

Hard to argue with that, thought Gerrard was allright today, especially 2nd half, but...

Lucas getting shoved higher up the pitch to accomodate Gerrard isn't the answer, can see why Rodgers done it, to have Lucas and Henderson do all the leg work/pressing and Gerrard do the mopping up behind them as he ain't up to the running, we will get away with setting up the front 6 pretty much how we like against most teams at Anfield and sometimes away from home like today but against better teams its a real concern.

Never been a fan of Allen but my eyes have been opened after the way our midfield operated against Spurs and City, its clearly the way forward, especially in big games but what do you do about the elephant in the room? one of these days Rodgers is going to have to deal with it.

Wow!! What a crazy game...the good, the bad, and the ugly. It had it all!!

Ultimately though, it's a game you can be quite sure we wouldn't have won in seasons gone by and it's a massive 3 points. Fancied us to win but not in that fashion.

Ohwell it's all about 3 points! Now onto Villa!!
