Lazio have been ordered to release striker Goran Pandev from his contract by the Lega Calcio, his lawyer has confirmed.

Pandev has been trying to terminate his stay with the Biancocelesti since the summer and has not played for the club all season.

The decision by the Lega Calcio's contract dispute resolution chamber means the FYR Macedonia frontman can leave on a free transfer in January.

"Pandev's appeal to the Lega Calcio's arbitration board was welcomed and they said we were in the right," Mattia Grassani told reporters.

"So Goran's contract has been resolved and the club have been ordered to pay 160,000 euros in punitive damages as well as the legal costs.

"There are eight pages of reasoning (in the copy of the sentence) and now I'll read it calmly."

Reports suggest a return to Inter Milan is the most likely prospect for Pandev, although Juventus and Tottenham are also said to be interested.

Pandev was under contract with the Nerazzurri for three years but was shipped out on loan twice and never played a game for the Italian giants.

Speculation is also rife that the 26-year-old could further anger Lazio fans by moving to bitter city rivals Roma.

Pandev has been at Lazio since 2004 and quickly became a firm fans' favourite at the Stadio Olimpico.

However, matters turned sour last summer when Lazio revealed that they would not accept a bid of less than 19million euros for Pandev after he filed a transfer request.

The Macedonian was branded a "rebel" by club president Claudio Lotito and frozen out of the squad, as well as being forced to train separately from his former team-mates.

Lotito insists he will not give up on his battle over Pandev's contract.

"I'm calm," he told Radio Radio.

"I can only say that it doesn't end here.

"I have already showed people that I don't give up. It doesn't end here.

"We'll see then who wins."

Pandev's contract with Lazio was set to expire next summer.

Sign sign sign, for free that is.

He'd be a cracking pick up.

Which is why Benitez will probably ignore it.

Keni has been calling for this since forever.. quick, good technique, good shot.. this is the sort of free signing we should be making.

Making efforts to get Pandev and Toni cold help us in our fight for fourth, jesus that sonds depressing.

Pandev wins Lazio release
Striker free to find new club after successful legal battle

Pandev has been trying to terminate his stay with the Biancocelesti since the summer and has not played for the club all season.

The decision by the Lega Calcio's contract dispute resolution chamber means the FYR Macedonia international can leave on a free transfer in January.

The likes of Inter Milan, Juventus, AC Milanand Tottenham have all been linked with a move for Pandev.

Pandev's lawyer Mattias Grassani confirmed the player was free to find a new club.

"Our application has been accepted and Pandev has rescinded his contract," Grassani told Sky Sport Italia.

"Lazio have been ordered to play the player €160,000 in compensation as well as legal costs. We received a fax from the Lega and it has confirmed the rescission with immediate effect.

"Pandev can now negotiate with any club he likes, but that will be dealt with through the agents. In any case, he is no longer tied to Lazio."

I am not saying we should nopt sign him, but our immediate need is someone who can hit the ground running

regards

I can't think of many clubs who will let even there reserve strikers go in January for less than £5M.

Even Heskey's getting games now.

This would be a risk free signing as we would defo get our money back if it didnt work out. Sign please.

but he has not played all year

Seems we could say the same for half the team, tho. >🙁

Having a medical at Inter Milan tomorrow according to reports. Mourinho has signed some decent attacking players there in (if he goes) Pandev, E'to, Sniejder etc... he also signed and failed with Quaresma and Mancini - who said he didn't trust attacking players?

And other reports claim we are ready to offer him 95k a week.

I've seen him being linked with Inter for most parts of the season. He would be mad to go there though, they have 42 strikers.
Still, he'll probably stay in Italy;

Goran Pandev has admitted his delight after being released from his Lazio contract and has confirmed he is likely to remain in Italy.

The Italian League agreed to annul his contract on Wednesday, despite Lazio's protests,

The Macedonian striker is now free to move to a new club in January and is pleased to have the opportunity.

"I'm happy. For me it's the end of a nightmare," said Pandev. "I hope a similar thing will never happen.

"I remain a Lazio supporter and I'm sorry for their supporters, even if I'm happy to leave.

"I've been disappointed by my team-mates and also coach Davide Ballardini has been incorrect with me."

Half-a-dozen Premier League clubs have already been linked with a move for the 26-year-old but he admits that he is set to remain in Serie A, with champions Inter Milan favourites to sign him.

"My future? I'd like to stay here in Italy," he added

Pandev himself said he preferred AC to Inter as Inter already have too many attacking options and he wants regular football.

Huntelaar is flopping big time at AC apparently.

AC should replace him with Pandev.
