Our 3rd striker

On the BBC gossip column earlier it said that we might let Borini have another season at Sunderland.

That would be the worst option out of anything, either get him back and give him another shot or just be done with it and flog him and put the money towards a replacement, Sunderland would near enough give us our money back for him, just don't see the point of another loan, whats to be gained from it?

The hope that he'll have a good season and drive up the sale price?

Either way, it's a bad option because Sunderland don't score very many goals and it's not a great team for an attacker to shine in.

Hes already done that, we would get more this summer than we would have last summer, we could nearly break even on him now i reckon.

Borini begins with the letter "B"
Son begins with the letter "S"

That's the answer right there.

I really don't understand how people can make an argument that we don't need a quality 3rd striker. Suarez and Sturridge have been looking knackered for a few weeks nearing the end of the season already – and that's in a season with no European games, no deep Cup runs and Suarez being thankfully injury-free (except for small niggles he usually plays through). Champions League will add between 6 to 13 games, all of them extremely high-stakes and energy-consuming and if we go deeper in the Cups, that could easily be around 15 extra games in the season. We definitely need a 3rd striker who can SCORE and scare opposition defenses, not just make up the numbers.

Also Rodgers seems to like the system with 2 strikers and a "diamond": it was arguably the most effective one for us this season. It would be nice not having to change the formation every time one of Suarez or Sturridge is unavailable or needs a rest. Of course I'm not saying that 3rd striker is as big of a priority as some other positions we needs to strengthen – but it's important nevertheless.

We definitely need a third striker.

Agreed. But assuming Suarez stays no top striker in their right mind is gonna come to us knowing he'd have to displace him or Sturridge to play.

So the question is can we get much more quality than Borini offers? I doubt it tbh, not without paying a large fee for an older player on big big wages.

Exactly we need a third choice. A young up and comer. Who? I have no idea.
Maybe someone like that Bamford lad who's at Derby or someone like Wickham. Viktor Fisher maybe?
