Yeah thats true. The enourmous joy watching us play in Europe this season make sure I can't wait to see it again.
Their is that I suppose..

Rodgers is tactically naive when it comes to Europe too it seems..

Qualifying and competing in Europe will help him get that right

What does tactically naive mean these days ?

Dunno..Looked at our record against Mans, City, Arsenal, Chelsea

2013-2014 season 4 W 4 L 0 D

5 wins against top 4 opposition in 23 games. I don't think we have defeated any top 4 team in the cup competitions also. I remember being knocked out by Arsenal last year in the FA cup, Mancs the year before in the FA cup and this year Chelsea defeated us.

Maybe it is not just about Rodgers being tactically naive in Europe. Maybe he does not know how to setup against quality opposition in England or Europe or the team is just no good enough or a combination of the two.

What a goal by Charlie Adam!

Xabi Alonso would have been proud!

He just beat Courtois from well in his own half.

Chelsea 1 Stoke 1.

Well I suppose I should say I think tactically naive is a cliché, at best it's a euphemism for playing positive football.

In defence of Rodgers approach, if I was running a club and knew that the amount of money you made was dependent on how often you were on TV I'd be encouraging my manager to play positive attacking football that people want to watch.

Defensive football can get results against better teams, but it doesn't attract viewers and fans don't like it unless you're winning trophies.

I think he's following orders, I don't think we have the personnel to play a defensive game either.

I just accept we'll be beaten by better teams but we'll probably be better overall in the league because of the approach

Unbelievable - we actually didn't drop out of the European places this weekend despite Soton and Spurs playing weaker clubs. Hopefully we'll cherish the chance given to us and stay ahead of them and finish 5th. 4th is gone, but I'm one of those who thinks the Europa League is actually worth playing in (okay, the first group stage is crap, but the knockout rounds after that aren't that bad, especially with the CL carrot dangled nowadays).

On the other hand, Burnley are still in with a great chance of escaping relegation, and are just 2 points behind Villa. Com'on Burnley!

Isn't TV money decided beforehand and is a function of how high you are in the PL standings, not just the viewership?

I do agree that attacking football ensures that the manager gets a little bit of leeway from the fans. If Rodgers had the same results playing Houllier style football, the pressure on him would be a lot more.

Partly but you are also paid additional money each time you appear on TV. We earned the most last season despite coming second as we were on TV the most.
