Reports today suggesting Utd will sell De Gea in the summer as he’s stalling on a new contract & they don’t want to lose him for freee at the end of next season.

Sanchez to be sold as well & Herrera not happy with his new pay offer.

So begins a massive rebuilding process - with between 4 & 7 top class players needed.

Excellent news.

Yep. Herrera is off to RM it seems. Mata to Barca. And if you were De Gea would you want to sign a new contract ? No surprise he wants to leave.

Now we wait for the RM offer for Pogba.

All good !

Not so sure it is good news that they offroad the core of players keeping them at 6th and got their manager sacked.

Getting shut of Sanchez and Herrera is hardly "excellent news". They're not good enough. De Gea is another matter, admittedly.

I don't think getting £100m out of Real Madrid for that preening cunt Pogba is a disaster either. He can't be trusted. He can play superbly one week and then look utterly disinterested the next.

So yeah, a rebuilding job. But really that's exactly what they need. Whether Gollum mark 2 is a big enough draw is another matter.

I wonder if Gollum mk II will switch from his absurd Northern accent to a more Norwegian/English accent now that the results are poor. When they were winning it got worse by the week. He was a few wins from wearing a six pence, showing up with a sheep dog, smoking a pipe and using farming metaphors in his pressers.

Good news in the sense that they’ll have to create a new spine and that they don’t have a settled team which will make it harder for them.

They’ll be doing it under a manager with no pedigree for managing a big club, let alone building success at one and a manager that is unlikely to attract the highest quality.

Given our many rebuilding phases over the years - not hard to think they’re going to have a tough time - particularly with City, us & Spurs with more “settled” squads.

For Utd to rebuild quickly would require investment of the amount of money that would make even City wince or it’ll have to be spread over a number of years.

They will also have to exceptionally lucky in the transfer market.

Given that the people responsible for their recent transfer activity are still in situ- it’s not a massive stretch to presume they’ll continue in much the same vein.

So - major rebuilding by overpaying massively for players that underwhelm and led by a manager with no experience or track record for achieving anything near what Utd want.

I can’t see what’s not to be happy about, to be honest.

Getting 4th or not will probably have a pretty big influence on the players they'll attract.
Solskjaer wont attract certain top players without CL.

Yep no CL, the way they have performed this season, potentially losing DdG and with Solskjaer leading them isn't exactly an attractive proposition for any top player - but there will always those who will take the big payday over glory.

I can't see them getting Top 4 now, and couldn't a month ago TBH, with the games clubs between 3rd and 6th had yet to play. However when they play City it'll still be in the reckoning and I can see them giving all they've got for a point or three.

DeGea would be an enourmous loss for them, hes like their VanDijk. Not just because hes obviously a great player but because he covers for the mistakes of other players and makes them look better than they are. Their defence will be a total shambles without him, and with 12 months left they wont get much of a fee for him. The only advantage they have is that there arent alot of options for him, probably just PSG and Madrid who can offer the wages/trophies hes after.

I don't actually think De Gea's been up to his previous standards this season (though that could be because he's been wanting to go). That said, they'll have a job (a) finding someone good enough to replace him and (b) persuading Woodward to part with the humungous fee which would doubtless be charged for such a player.

They'd still get a decent amount for him even if he is in the last 12 months of the contract, he's proven himself to be amongst the best in the world.

Who do we not want to get top 4 the most?

Spurs and Utd would be funniest but fuck the rentboys too

Yeah, it's a question I think I've discussed before.

It's verrrry hard, but it would deffo be well funny if Arsenal beat Spurs to a Top 4 spot and they had the Europa League in their £1bn stadium next season.

And yeah, I fucking hate Chelsea, but......United losing out would also be glorious.

Spurs losing out with that massive debt to pay off for the new stadium would be hilarious.
Chelsea will most likely have a transfer ban so they can stay in the CL, and Arsenal are Arsenal. They'll fuck off out in the last 16, if they get through the group stages.

Utd and Spurs to miss out would be ideal.

In an ideal world they'd all miss out. In the real world I don't have a particular problem with the Arse but obv.despise the Mancs, while for me it's a tossers' toss-up between the Chavs and Bottleham Hotspur for the honour of accompanying ManUre into the outer darkness..

De gea will stay if gets the 350k a week wages he wants which is most likely. He is easily worth 15 points a season to united.

Yep - Scum & Spurs to miss out please.

As Hansern says the Chavs transfer ban will mean that, with Hazard probably leaving, they could be fucked next season anyway

Reading Redcafe it seem some of them are hoping for a 30-40 mill for Jones as part of their rebuilding. Thats an hillarious amount of money for an average defender....

But the good part is that when they discuss their sellable assets their squad is split among players with so high wages that they are not attractive at high prices, and the players with moderate wages which are not attractive to sell cause they need to be replaced by players commanding skyhigh salaries. Add to that contract situations not favourable for the club. They have a huge task ahead.

For the reasons Hansern stated, transfer ban for Chelsea and Spurs with massive debt and their new stadium ... it's an easy call.

My radio alarm woke me up to the sound of some female Man City supporter on BBC Radio 5 Live saying: "We win all our matches in a controlled way, but Liverpool are only winning from other people's mistakes."

They have such an overbearing sense of entitlement. I would love them to get their comeuppance. Just love it.
