But United have a fairly long list of shite they have purchased veron, maria, djemba djemba, Anderson,Zaha Bebe...mainly name those cos they came with huge fanfare and were expected to be amazing instead just fizzled away.

Veron was a great player, just not suited to playing in this country.

When he played in the CL for Utd he usually tore it up.

Absolutely, Veron always expected more time on the ball than he was ever going to get in the Premier League.

While he was dwelling on the ball contemplating his next penetratinp pass, some gorilla would always run up and kick him in the arse.

I was speaking to a City fan yesterday who was trying to give me stick over the league, had to remind him that we were SIX TIME European Champions, that shut him up.

He said to me would I swap the CL for the League and I said yeah of course I would, I asked him the reverse, would he swap the League for the CL, and he said he’d rather City lost every game in Europe to win the league as the league is the most important.

Why are City fans such mongs.

It’s not that they’re mongs - I mean, of course they are, but - it’s that they actually have no concept of what being successful in Europe means.

They won the Cup Winners Cup in 1970 and I think since then they’ve only managed a couple of semi-final appearances in any European competition since.

Best to remind them of the fact we’ve won 12 European Trophies since they won their only one - which was in a competition that no longer exists - then express sympathy for their lack of appreciation and/or understanding of what it means to win in Europe.

If a City fan asks me if I would swap the CL win for a League win, I say of course. But then we would still have 5 more CLs than you.

It's cute how they lie as they're desperate to justify how much better their achievement is than ours.

They have gotten it into their head that CL is a fix (hence booing during the anthem) and as such isn’t worth winning.

And ya’know it’s also meaningless because non champs get to play yada yada yada.

The problem they have yet to experience though is players leaving because they have not won the CL. Once that kicks in then they will realise it's importance. Has anyone read that interview with our owner lately ? - he thinks we have won the BIG ONE, and winning the league is really something for us fans, and will be a priority next season. I actually think for many of our players the CL was more important than the league as it is recognised by the world as the main club competition for the very best. Not sure if the foreign players actually grow up wanting to win the PL, or any other domestic league competition, I think the big one is the CL.

Partly agree but, if we want to get ourselves in a position to properly challenge for it on a regular basis, we HAVE to be competing for and preferably winning our share of league titles too.

Yeah, the European Cup is obviously a more prestigious and well-known trophy globally, so I can understand that, especially for the foreign players.

Also, the European Cup final has become an event. People watch it even if their team isn't playing. It's probably only second to the world cup final in terms of global audience (I don't count the superbowl, it can get to fuck). Especially now that it's on a Saturday night and no longer on a Wednesday (I thought that was a bad move, I'm happy to say that I was wrong).

I said this a few months ago after I heard Salah in an interview. When asked which he preferred to win. He basically said the CL was important for him, but he wanted to win the league for the fans too.

The CL is definitely more important for all the foreign lads and the owners.

When you think about American sports and JW Henry. They look at it like the "league season" is just qualifier for the big money "playoff" competition that is the CL. All American sports is generally seen that way. Like you can finish top of the table in the "Eastern conference" , but that's only really seen as getting a better seed in the "NBA playoffs", for the actual championship.

Winning the CL was always the goal for our owners. The question is, with us continually being competitive for that and in the top 4, how much will they care to push the boat out for us to win the league, when they don't really have to.
