Liverpool are set to be without striker Divock Origi for around three weeks after a scan revealed the severity of his hamstring injury.

The Belgian had a difficult start to his Liverpool career, but had started to show signs of improvement before he suffered the injury during the Boxing Day clash with Leicester City.
He scored a hat-trick in the League Cup win against Southampton and made a few decent cameos in subsequent games, before being selected to start against the Foxes.

According to James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo, the 22-year-old will definitely miss the upcoming ties against West Ham United, Stoke City and Exeter City and he is also a doubt for the games against Arsenal and Manchester United.
With Danny Ings out for the season and Daniel Sturridge still not fit enough to make his return to the side, Klopp will be forced to use Christian Benteke in the majority of games, but could also use Roberto Firmino in the ‘false nine’ role like he did against Chelsea and Manchester City.

* Would be nice if the thread starter could edit his/her own thread title ?

No way are we going to buy another striker. We'll just have to get by given Ings is out for the season and Origi for 3 weeks but Sturridge and Benteke will cover the duties between them. I doubt we'll see a situation where all 4 are out and that's the only situation where Klopp may even be tempted to go early for a another striker.

The biggest question is what are we going to do for the 2016/17 season ? Studge isn't worth selling because no club willing to pay any real fee would be tempted by his injury history.

Benteke has just arrived and a lot will depend on how we goes from now until the end of the season but if he's around 20 goals, and I think he will be, then I doubt he'll be moved on.

Ings was great value for money (whatever we pay) and looks like he could be tailor-made as a 'Klopp striker', with energy and a nose for a goal - and the only true goal-poacher we have.

Origi is young and will be given a chance to prove he can make it - which I think he will over the next 2-3 seasons.

The amount of fixtures we have coming up and we have one fit striker.

Studge cant be relayed on/

Really hope Frim steps up for 2nd half season.

The Ings injury was really gutting. I think he'd have flourished under Klopp - in a Lucas Barrios sort of way.

Ahhh, I know Firmino is Brazilian, and cost £29m and Naismith is Scottish who come through at Kilmarnock before moving to Rangers then Everton, but I'd hazard a guess we'd have a lot more productivity from the latter this season.
