I was listening to TalkSport for a change this morning on the way to work and they had an on air chat with Graham Beacroft (spelling?) who claimed to have good contacts at Anfield. The presenters (Brazil and Irani) were making a lot of the fact that Beacroft was speaking plainly about the situation at Anfield instead of his usual stance of not giving anything away and sitting on the fence. The gist of his information was this:

Gerrard is definitely leaving this summer having become completely disillusioned with Rafa the man and manager. He (Gerrard) doesn't think Rafa is "good enough" plain and simple. He's waiting for confirmation that Mourinho is going to Madrid before joining him there. If that doesn't come to fruition he'll go elsewhere.

Torres is also disillusioned with Rafa and might follow Gerrard out of Anfield, though it's less clear.

The board are waiting until after 30th June to sack Rafa as it will cost 5m less then (he'll be in the 2nd year of his contract by then). They are also hoping he might leave before then.

Hodgson and O'Neill are the main targets as his replacement.
 
That information completely contradicts itself. Gerrard and Torres leaving because they can't hack Rafa who's allegedly being sacked.


EDIT: Oh, and it's Talksport, so it's most likely complete bollocks anyway

The inference is that if Rafa stays, the dynamic duo lift anchor.

I tend to take this kind of stuff with the requisite salt serving but, I have been mulling this over quite a bit since I heard it.

I don't doubt he has pretty good contacts at both clubs, given how long he worked at City/ Merseyside, but I always thought he was a Bitter.

Ha, it does, doesn't it?

I probably should have laid more emphasis on Beacroft being less clear on Rafa's situation. He talked about the 30th June situation but that was with respect of IF the board sack him, not when. Ditto the replacements.

He was adamant about Gerrard leaving.

I am starting to be of the opinion that it is not worth getting all het-up over what might or might not be, and that we are just going to have to wait until something actually happens.

The top and bottom of things at the moment is that nothing gets leaked out of Anfield these days , it is tighter than a ducks arse, and that applies to players and their agents too, I don't think they say fuck all to anyone any more , unless there is an agenda.

The key to all this is speculation over the manager and players is if/when the Club is sold.

Me to. just looking forward to World Cup, fuck LFC and their stupid will he won't he for a month it is all too frustraing and constant emotional highs and lows. I just cannot get excited about what may or may not be and who is staying or leaving. Nobody really knows anything anyway.

our inability to control games is a direct result of being over run through the middle of the park, if rafa doesn't address this this summer (if he stays) then any good will from the few people that still support him will evaporate
