NFL Thread 2013-2014

Oh, and DeMarcus Ware shouldn't have played.

I'm no expert in this game, but when one of your better players is limping on one leg I don't think that's a good thing.

They put up some incredible stats during the cowboys game about how far back they've gone under that new defensive coordinator. It was remarkable, it's like they picked the cunt out of the stands.

I have no idea why he was hired in the first place. Last year he worked for USC and was so bad his own son had to fire him.

Doesnt Monte Kiffin have an NFL record in points and yards allowed? 10 times in the top 10 or something.
Surley he cant be that bad, or are his ideas outdated?

I don't see the Saban to Texas thing. For one thing, dude does his Tide telly commitments on the pitch after each home game. The words "Longhorn Network" will make him shit an entire snow leopard. Alabama let him do whatever the fuck he wants (including monkeying about with recruiting and roster numbers) in a way Austin never would. And UT might be the richest programme, but Saban is already the best paid coach. His DC gets over a $1m for fuck's sake. People can't even poach their staff.

I don't think he'll be there twenty years or anything, but I'd be shocked if he left this year. Especially for Texas. The Big 12 is a mess. Would anyone be surprised if Texas went indy? Perhaps Saban would like that, I dunno. Schedule control, no 13th game conference championship to fuck your plans up. People seem to be suggesting that a three-peat would be enough, time to go somewhere else. But Saban has never struck me as being an enough sort of guy. If he gets three in a row, he'll want four. Maybe the thought of a new QB is a concern for him, in that it might be easier to take on a new QB in a new school rather than replace the relationship/success he has enjoyed with McCarron. But he has a choice at Bama - Sims, Del Rio, and he'll have true freshers Cornwell and Town (who chose the Tide over Texas).

Plus, I hate UT and will refuse to believe it even if it happened.

Surely it's all him posturing to get a bigger/better contract at Bama???

I think if he were to go to Texas it would not be for money, as much as Texas could ay him, i would be hard to not see Alabama at least matching it. The more I think about it the only thing Texas has over Alabama is Austin vs Tuscaloosa.

Not much of a choice really, I have never been to Tuscaloosa, or anywhere in Alabama, but I'm pretty sure I'd choose hell over Tuscaloosa.

Well, yeah. Alabama is basically a third world country. If there wasn't a federal government they wouldn't have roads. But if they win this year it's basically the greatest dynasty in modern football. I could probably put up with a few years in T-Town if I had something that ridiculous.

Spent the last 3 days in College Station at Texas A&M, and got a tour of Kyle Field during it. Apart from it being fucking freezing, it was really interesting. They're re-building parts of it, and the history behind the stadium wasn't something I knew anything about.

Fucking weird people mind you.

The game day atmosphere is one of the best in the country, and the band is incredible.

You visited on the coldest days of the year so far, mind, but yeah we're doing a massive renovation and rebuild of Kyle right now, started last weekend after the last home game of the season.

Yeah they were talking it up big style, sounds impressive. It really is remarkable how the whole campus revolves around the field pretty much. I'd love to be there for gameday.

So I've managed to wrangle a ticket for the Bears - Ravens game tomorrow.

Looking forward to it even though I'm gonna freeze my cunt off.

Watching OSU-Illinois, which is another way of saying what is the point of the Big 10? Buckeyes 21-0 up inside a quarter.

Although Ohio State are now trying hard to restore conference relevance by massively shitting their shorts.

I almost hope Alabama lose to Auburn and let OSU into the national title game just so Florida State can bash their heads in and dance in their brains.

Dear lord did you see that hit on Holliday in the Alabama game? Even in slow-mo it looks ridic.

Did anyone see that catch in the UCF game? Fuck me.

Told you Worton had buckets. Kid can ball. Imagine fucking up your BCS chances against that Temple side though. UCF have so many close wins they should let them into the Orange bowl just for being massive chancers. They'll get murderized, but still.

All the Florida sides seem pretty entertaining. I see Florida State just scraped home in another tight one yesterday too. Heh.

Winston gonna win the Heisman?

On a more serious note; there's a fucking tornado forecast to arrive in downtown Chicago at lunchtime today. And I'm on the 3rd level of Solider field. Awesome.
