"I can't wait to get started and what better way to kick-off than welcoming Liverpool to St. James' Park on Saturday."

Hope the "new manager effect" won't kick in against us then. :-X

Hopefully the new manager effect only occurs when the players disliked the old manager. As far as I'm aware, the players loved Hughton at Newcastle.

I'm surprised even Pardew wanted the job.

When was the last time the Newcastle manager actually had any control?

At one stage it was the players (well, Shearer) who essentially ran the show, then there are a half witted section of fans who have an absurd amount of say in matters and even without them there is always that fat clueless cunt Ashley to contend with.

They should've hired Houllier when they had the chance, given him the time and money to get on with it and they'd have actually won a trophy by now.

Really? After being sacked from League 1 Southampton he gets a job in Premier League. Even if it's Newcastle I'm sure he can't believe his luck.

I doubt that, but not because of GH. Quite the contrary if anything, I don't think he'd have stood for Ashley's or Llambias' interference and amateurism. They are going to regret junking Hughton more than they can imagine.

There is a rumor going around that Pardew agreed to work for the lowest wages to make up for the gambling debt, he has racked up at LLambias Casino. ;D

I am sure the rumor is bollocks, but you never know with Newcastle 😀

He was sacked from the saints for knobbing a players wife.

Alegedly.

Weren't there similar rumours at West Ham?

Pardew just came out and said his first priority was to avoid relegation. So his first utterance was to lower expectations and bring in a fear of relegation. Three weeks before they are in a relegation scrap then?

No manager with gambling debts to a casino should be allowed to manage a club. Huge conflict. It just makes the appointment look even more dubious. Ashley frequents that Casino too.

Totally agree with that.

Some Newcastle fan on SSN crying because Pardew mis-pronounced Hughton, and called Newcastle a town. Also he says they are the most passionate and demanding fans in the country.

Ok.

People keep wondering why he took the role, that it's a poisoned chalice...

You go into a job you know you are going to be sacked from, likely within a year. You negotiate a 5 year contract and are due shit loads of money. Unless you totally fail, no one will think any less of you for being sacked.

Why not take it?

There has to be a clause in his contract that allows them to sack him with minimal compensation. Makes no sense otherwise.

Newcastle.

So does this make Hughton the new Keegan? He'll now become the greatest manager of all-time and have the old ticket tape parade upon his return in a couple of years?

Nah, Inter Milan was the most poisoned chalice of all. NO win. And you know Maureen is causing dissent behind the scenes...

Pardew signed a five-and-a-half year deal worth £450,000 a year, making him one of the lowest paid bosses in the top flight. However, there are big bonuses on offer for hitting targets including staying up and a wins target that, if passed, could earn him £1.5m.

MirrorSport can reveal that sacked boss Hughton picked up a pay-off of just £125,000 from Newcastle - half his annual salary and the equivalent of around two weeks' wages for the top earning players.

😱

Please dont tell me Jova is on £90K per week.
[/quote]

Well no, but I recall reading somewhere he's on £70k. I just wanted to use a round figure. 🙂

70k? That's alright then.

He's earnt that 70k a week and proved himself worthy of being one of the highest paid players in liverpools history in my opinion.
