Of course sturridge will start, another 60min and put game to bed then introduce benteke or origi.Klopp said after game last night sturridge felt fine after game!! Play Lucas & Milner as holding then Firmino Coutinho Lallana behind sludge. Newcastle defence one of worst in PL history.

no need for that

Sturridge played out wide yesterday

I initially thought so, but then I noticed Origi also played pretty close to his flank at times... So it was a "diamond" after all and Klopp confirmed it at the post-match presser. I recon the formation you suggest (with Benteke, Sturridge, Firmino and Coutinho as an attacking 4) could be used for some games, especially if we're behind and need to score. I could also see an Atletico Madrid style 4-4-2 with Firmino and Coutinho on the flanks/AM and Sturridge and Benteke up front.

Very interesting game.

Newcastle got walloped last week so surely at least a bit of pride if nothing else will see them lift the performance.

Humping Southampton will mean sweet F all if we don't beat Newcastle.

Hopefully Newcastle come out and try and attack us at home and give us space to play in.

It's great to really care again and have real hope for the team.

I'd go for the diamond again on Sunday maybe with Benteke in for Origi, though I suspect he might be rewarded with another start after the hattrick. Hendo must be chomping for a start, so Allen/Lallana back to bench after playing the cup game (as Sturridge did, see how long he goes sub him off) and bring one of them on for him after 60-70 assuming it all goes well.

I think Fallon has it right for the back, and midfield, but for the front three - I think he will play:-

Firmino, Coutinho, and either Sturridge or Benteke. I think he will rest Lallana on the bench to start with.

I do fear that Newcastle will really put up a resistance as has been rightly pointed out they lost badly in their last game so all things being equal - they will now put up a strong fight in their next game to show their 'fans' - oh we really do care about the well being of this team.

I don't like that Can is out. He has been playing better and better. His impact lately has been good.
Lucas, Milner + Henderson (or Allen if he performs to his Southampton level again) should be more than enough, and arguably better than with Can on the pitch.

They've now been battered 2 games on the trot and, without tempting fate too much, I think we'll make it 3.
They can put up as much fight as they like but when you're as shite in defence as Newcastle are then it will take a bit more than that to get a result. McClaren to ring the changes I read somewhere.

Just because this thread is absolutely dripping with ridonkulous jinxyness of truly monumental proportions it should also be stated that Newcastle away in the form they are in are the very pinnacle of banana skins a factory farm full of unhatched eggs waiting to be prematurely counted...

Lets just hope we play as well as we can and see what happens before we start counting the fucking hattricks gents eh..

I always hate playing Newcastle - Mainly because I like them so much. Nowt wrong with the toon.

I still hope we smash them though. 🙂

Haha! My best mate is toon fan so I've always had a soft spot for them. The love gets returned as well as I've met a ton of toon fans that respect LFC. Our very own @Rouge Penguin is a toon fan and a bloody great poster. They are in free fall at the moment not doubt and I hope they sort it out. Just no on Sunday 😉

Agreed, I also have a soft spot for Newcastle. They were my second favourite team during the Ginola, Asprilla, Lee, Ferdinand days.
LFC has a history of buying their best players and in return giving them our veterans. Players who played for both clubs:
Kennedy, McDermott, Beardsley, Hamann, Venison, Rush, Keegan, Barnes, Bellamy, Owen, Carroll, Enrique etc.

Did this forum had a similar vibe before we played Palace? Hoping the end result is different.

The only teams other than LFC about which I have particular reactions are the Mancs and the blueslime. No other team is worth the effort AFAIC.

Yeah I get that. I guess I like them because of my bezza. We used to watch any toon or LFC game together and I found myself cheering them on as he did when we watched the reds together. We both share a mutual hatred for the Mancs and Spurs - So it's all good. I just got off the phone with him actually. He fears a massive humping this weekend!

I don't think it will be a pretty game. I expect them to have 11 men behind the ball defending trying to play long balls to Cisse.
